SCEA has announced that NFL Game Day 2001 for the Sony PlayStation will be available on August 15. The game is sponsored by Marshall Faulk of the Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams, who provided strategic input during the game's development and appears on the box cover. The game was developed by 989 Sports.
"NFL GameDay 2001 builds on the winning formula of the original pro football franchise for the PlayStation game console and successfully captures the essence of the game," said Ami Blaire, director of product marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We're very pleased to team up with Marshall Faulk - a gamer himself and the winner of our 'Game Before the Game' competition at this year's Super Bowl - to bring his world championship expertise to the game as the NFL GameDay 2001 cover athlete."
SCEA will support the game's release with television and print advertising, direct mail, national promotions, and online marketing. Dedicated 30-second television ads will appear during national network and cable programs.
