Game Company Looking for a Name

The acquisition of The Learning Company by Gores causes the delay of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor.

The acquisition of The Learning Company by Gores Technology Group has forced the company to revise its publishing schedule. The most notable change in the schedule is the delay of SSI's Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor, which was originally scheduled for release this holiday season. The game is now scheduled for release next spring. According to the company spokesperson, the delay is due to major company changes, which include the process of finding a new company name that would unite the numerous different brands that made up The Learning Company. SSI will still remain a strong brand within the company, as the studio has a long history and Gores believes it has a strong fan base. The development schedule of Myst III: Exile at Presto Studios has not been affected, and the adventure game is on track to meet its scheduled release date in early 2001.

Gores Technology Group and the yet-unnamed new company will release an official announcement in the coming weeks, along with a revised publishing schedule. According to a Learning Company spokesperson, the goal of Gores is to make the new company profitable within the next six months.
