Game Boy Color Puzzler Due This Spring

Klustar hopes to bring addictive puzzle logic to the Game Boy Color.

New puzzle games for the Game Boy Color are few and far between, unless you want to play your old B&W puzzlers on your new color machine. Luckily, Infogrames will be releasing its new puzzle game - Klustar - this spring.

Klustar's premise is simple. Players catch boxes on a small cluster of colored boxes in the middle of the screen. Rather than moving the boxes themselves, the player spins the Klustar around horizontally and vertically to catch the oncoming boxes. If players catch the boxes in the right spot, the cluster grows, and there's a good chance they'll lose. But if players place the boxes in the right spot, the grid collapses, opening up more opportunities to gain even more points. And, like other puzzlers, as the game progresses, the gameplay speeds up. The game also does away with a clunky UI by making the entire screen the place where all the action occurs.

When Klustar releases this spring it will offer 16 skill levels, two game types (endurance and countdown), and a special two-player mode using the infrared game link between two Game Boy Color machines.
