Stardock has launched the Web site for Galactic Civilizations 2, the sequel to Galactic Civilizations, ahead of schedule. The turn-based space strategy title is being published by Strategy First and will be released in February of next year for the PC. While the site is still largely under construction, it does feature seven screenshots from the game, concept art, ship designs, and a developer diary. Gamers can also preorder the title for $44.95 to be included in the March beta testing of the game.

As in the original, the prime objective in Galactic Civilizations 2 is to establish an interstellar civilization. But the sequel's new features allow gamers to accomplish this in several different ways--they will be able to design their own ships, play as any race, and customize the makeup of their fleets. Stardock has also made each planet in the universe unique, both with their looks and resources, and based the look of the game on an all-new 3D engine.

We'll have more on Galactic Civilizations 2 as details are released.
