Fury Road Director George Miller Will Make More Mad Max Movies

"A completely garbled interview."

Mad Max fans can relax--George Miller does plan to make more movies in his sci-fi action series. Earlier this week the director was quoted by the New York Post as saying that he "won't make more Mad Max movies". However, he has now clarified these comments.

Miller spoke to The Wrap shortly after hearing about Mad Max: Fury Road's impressive number of Oscar nominations. "That was a completely garbled interview," he explained. "I was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review.

"She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It won't necessarily be next, but I have two more stories."

Mad Max: Fury Road collected ten Oscar nominations, the second highest this year after the survival thriller The Revenant. Although many of these are in the technical categories, the film is up for Best Picture, and Miller has been nominated for Best Director.

Fury Road has also received more Oscar nods than any Australian film in history, beating Moulin Rouge's eight nominations in 2002. The 88th Academy Awards take place on February 28, 2016.
