A week later than was originally scheduled, Electronic Arts has today announced the North American release of Freedom Fighters for the PC and all current-generation consoles. Set in an alternate history in which the Soviet Union won the Cold War and has subsequently invaded New York City, the game sees players assuming the role of a plumber named Christopher Stone who joins and eventually leads a revolution against the Red menace.

Freedom Fighters was developed by Denmark-based Io Interactive, and, in addition to the single-player campaign, the console versions feature split-screen support for up to four players. For more information on Freedom Fighters, check out our full review of the game.
