Free JumpGate preview version released

3DO has released a free downloadable preview version of its upcoming online space simulation, JumpGate. The preview lets players experience the massively multiplayer space sim at no charge before the full game is released later this month.

JumpGate is a massively multiplayer online space simulation that incorporates a number of role-playing elements. The game is set in a huge persistent universe inhabited by three rival factions. Players begin with a spaceship, and they can trade, form alliances, complete missions, and battle enemies as they try to build their fortune and reputation. In addition, the game's dynamic universe is constantly changing according to the actions of the players.
