Free Games, Giveaways, and Discounts During GOG's 24-Hour Summer Sale Event

DRM-free versions of Witcher 2, Don't Starve, and more available at heavily discounted prices today on GOG.

Hot on the heels of the Steam Summer Sale and the Humble Store Sale, digital distribution platform GOG.com is having a one-day event during its own Summer Sale called Adrenaline Rush.

GOG's sale features heavily discounted games including Don't Starve for $5, GRID for $3, and Witcher 2 for $4. Today's bundles are also great deals, as you can grab the Bullfrog Classics pack, including Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, the Populous games, and more for only $10. Most of the catalogue is discounted 50 percent or more. As always on GOG, all games are DRM-free, meaning you can use them on any computer. They are not tied to any one user.

Today's Adrenaline Rush also includes several giveaways and contests. Several games will be given away for free in three hour chunks. These will show up among the flash sales on the front page. Right now, you can pick up Still Life 2 for free.

Also, at random intervals, GOG will post short, 5-second videos of games on its social media platforms. If you can be one of the first 100 people to guess the game, you will be given a voucher to download it.

Is the promise of DRM-free games enough to draw you to the GOG sale? Or will you stick to the Steam Summer Sale today? Let us know in the comments!

sadly GOG games aren't connected to any social service that unlocks achievements to my gamertag/profile… :(

Primarily I'll stick to Steam because this is where the majority of my games library is, including my friends and to take advantage of Steam's additional features (market, trading cards, cloud saves, workshop, automatic updates, community, ...).

But I've also got about half as much on GOG because DRM free is just pure awesome and the games, especially the old ones are actually updated to work on Windows 7 (unlike the same older games sold on Steam), plus there's usually lots of bonus content included on GOG.

That's about it though, I despise EA's and UbiSoft's platforms (Origin and uPlay) and haven't bought a single game there or somewhere else that require those clients.

Funny enough, the only EA and UbiSoft games I own are from the pre year 2005-ish era when they were not full of sh*t and those that are available on GOG.

In short, Steam (Valve) is awesome and so is GOG (CD Projekt Red) and I'm looking forward to GOG's "Galaxy" client for auto updates, convenient downloads and community features, friends lists, etc.

@RC-Sev

Go to the Witcher 3 Pre-order page and on the right side you can redeem FREE copies of Witcher 1 and/or 2 at gog.com. :)

EDIT: Oh, and it gets you the extra bonus price reduction on the gog.com pre-order of the Witcher 3 if you want it.
