Fox Interactive and Electronic Arts have announced that they'll be copublishing a new tactical strategy game set in the Aliens Versus Predator universe, called Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction, which is currently in development for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. Players will be able to assume the role of one of three different types of factions--alien, marine, or predator--each of which will have 10 upgradeable combat units. These upgrades will take the form of different weapons or vision abilities that give players a better chance for survival against the enemy. Each of three character classes will have different types of attacks as well. For example, the aliens will attack in hordes, while predators will rely primarily on stealth attacks.

Aliens Versus Predator: Extinction is scheduled for release this summer.
