Forza 3 fueled with free day-one DLC

New copies of Microsoft and Turn 10's Xbox 360-exclusive racer to come with token for 10 more cars, two new tracks; full vehicle lineup, tracklist revealed.

Earlier today, BioWare announced that gamers will be able to purchase a $7 add-on for Dragon Age: Origins when it launches for the Xbox 360 and PC on November 3 and the PlayStation 3 later that month. Turn 10 will be doing that launch one better, saying today that Forza Motorsport 3 will launch with a batch of free downloadable content for those who buy the game new when it hits the gas exclusively on the Xbox 360 on October 27.

A look inside the Benchmark High Speed Ring.

Those who purchase the game new will receive a one-time-use token to download the Motorsports Legends Car Pack. The car pack includes 10 coveted rides from years gone by, including the 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage, and the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. Turn 10 did not indicate whether these vehicles would later be released for purchase, and Microsoft declined to comment on the matter.

The token will also allow gamers to download for free two bonus racing tracks. The Benchmark High Speed Ring lets gamers cruise around an abandoned airfield that has been converted into a racing track. The track features 3.96 miles of surface, as well as a large oval, eight-lane drag strips and airplane hangar. The other track will be Sidewinder Proving Grounds, which has been included in previous editions of the game.

Microsoft and Turn 10 also announced today the full list of cars and tracks that will be included in Forza 3. Of note, the ranging 400-car garage includes 30 Ferraris and 28 Porsches, as well as a number of vehicles not previously seen in other racing games. These include the Aston Martin DBS, Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR, and the 2009 Acura ARX ALMS. A full list of cars and tracks can be found on the game's official Web site.

Something went wrong with mine, I entered the code, it worked. It came up with the downloading screen, then i pressed b thinking it would download in the backround. and it just quit the whole thing, now I can't seem to download it at all, and when i enter the code again, it says the code has already been redeemed. Has anyone else had this problem, I would like to know if there is a way around this.

I want to see a 1955-57 Chev Bel-air in Forza 3. That car looks good when it goes fast with a 502ci stuffed under the hood with a blower. It was in Midnight Club LA and 3 : DUB edition.

Still no classic Goat... that sorta sucks. Maybe in a future DLC pack.

Its all worth it!! As it appears at the moment, Forza 3 is arguably the best racing simulation released thus far so its only a good marketing strategy from MS to entice games with lucrative offers to further guarantee the sales of the game.

Oh yes im gonna love this lil competition...IGN called Forza 3 "one of the best racing games ever made"...Man, that's saying a lot coming from IGN. Looks like Turismo just slipped to second place with that delay. All I will say is this, if Gran Turismo finds someway to still Sh*t on this game, that would be incredible, and polyphony digital would earn my respect. I honestly don't think that is gonna happen, but it's about time that someone puts some pressure on polyphony. But, if polyphony has one ace up its sleeve...It's the NASCAR licence.

yeah thats why xbox needs BLU RAY!!!! cuz they cant fit it in the dvd!

They do this as an incentive to buy it early. I see it as an incentive to kick 'em in the nuts. When will they learn to include this in the game? It's as if they said, "Okay we're done. Hey, wait a minute! We could take out a track or two, remove a few cars, offer them for free as DLC and call it an 'incentive' to buy the game at launch. It's brilliant!". I may very well pass on this game because of their decision. First, it's the "special edition" for, what was it, $80. Now this. If the majority of people did not buy into these marketing ploys, we would see more content in original releases. Unfortunately, there are far too many, dare I say, idiots running about, throwing their wallets at them like confetti and burning holes into their pockets with their own lighters. And you wonder why people have no money these days. They may as well stand over a milking pale with "Recession" painted on it. Come to think of it, that would make a pretty funny comic strip in the Sunday paper. I'm certain it will be a phenomenal game. I just don't know how I would play it with one arm.

ha ha ha. we see more and more xbox games doing this. its because the whole game doesnt fit on the dvd. i predict final fantasy 13 to have numerous disks.

They read my mind. My plan was to wait a while before buying Forza 3, but this changes things.

im gona get this game, but it comes out on tuesday, and i was gona get it friday. thats just inconvient for me, so that kinda sucks. None the less its just 10 more cars but still, maybe just a week to download it wouldn't be asking to much

I believe the individuals complaining about no internet service in their home are right. We are all on different financial levels, just as all fingers are not equal. Also the level of development in each continent aren't the same.Eg;the Africa continent is behind,.......but it is important to make you guys aware that alot of individuals in Africa are Gamers too. So, they need to place their comments here about issues that troubles them.Eg;.....like the inability to get some of this DLC due to internet issues. I don't think we should give any individual a thumb down because he says not everyone has the internet service in his home.

It's nice to see this being free unlike some day 1 EA DLC - but I have to ask, why not just put it on the disc?

@enoslives7 Learn 2 Read. Nowhere did it say purchase. It's is free content for Forza 3 on release a few more cars.

I'm a cheap bastard, so I don't ever buy new games, nor do I make pre-orders... Until now... Good job Turn 10, my love for classic cars, in an amazing racing sim, has out-weighed my hate for spending money.

sammoth

Why can't other Game companies take one out of the book and Follow Turn 10 this way instead of charging Gamers for DLC at release of the game. Good Job Turn 10 for offering this up for Free. I know there will be DLC later for Forza 3 as there should be but, at least there not charging for it Day One.

This is great way to counter the sales of used games. Madden also did it this year, now Forza, Dragon Age, it's becoming a trend.

DLC released on Day 1 really should be included on the disc, but atleast this pack is being released for free. Really looking forward to this game

I heard people complain about NFS. The demo was actually fun. Though I just dont think I can pass up Forza2 for it. Only thing is I wish Forza would have smaller cars as well. I think its interesting to race in the first car you ever owned...but thats minor.

This is a nice incentive to buy the game, but it will most likely be a temporary thing.

WoW!!! not a fan of 360, but i must give credit where credit is due. good strategic move for a good game. =D to bad i'm a sony fanboy. i would be all over this game. oh, well. =P

This is a great move: 1) It makes pirated games lack some great stuff 2) It is an incentive to buy new instead of pre-played 3) It makes the users very aware of downloadable content which it no doubt will be lots of for Forza in the coming year.

XeonForce

This is kinda like they did with the map pack in new copies of Gears2; it's a good incentive to buy new, which reduces used sales and piracy. Everybody wins! =P

Releasing special content like this when a game is new is really going to motivate gamers to purchase "new" products instead of "used" products. I bet this becomes a much more common method of releasing software in the future. I highly recommend that all Xbox 360 owners download the free demo of Forza Motorsport 3 that was recently made available on Xbox Live. Never before in the history of gaming have I been so immeasurably impressed with a racing simulation game! The developers of Forza Motorsport 3 weren't kidding when they said the game uses "ten times" as many polygons as the previous Forza Motorsport game. The graphics are so incredible that it took my breath away. Combined with over 100 tracks to play on, hundreds of cars to drive with, and gameplay that is both fun and easy, Forza Motorsport 3 is an instant classic!

Guess its one way to help them keep their revenue up. I myself am a avid gamefly user so now these game companies are getting stingy LOL

why is everyone complaining? its free, you dont have o purchase anything besides the game new. its a great way for companies to ensure they get the money they deserve instead of a game retailer for selling used.

They are doing it like that because all that stuff doesn't fit on the disc. MLB2K games have been doing that the last few games because they can't fit all the stadiums and uniforms...

Thats more like it. DLC that arrives the same time as a game's release was meant to be in the game in the first place. Only a fool would pay for such.Charger an Miura for me :)
