Forza 2 car list finalized, release delayed

More than 300 automobiles confirmed for Turn 10's realistic racer; release delayed a fortnight to May 29.

It's a phrase that Forza Motorsport fans are all too familiar with--"Forza has been delayed." Microsoft today confirmed what several online retailers hinted at; the release of Forza Motorsport 2 has been pushed back two weeks to May 29.

And there are more than 300 others to choose from, too.

The game was originally scheduled to be released during the 2006 holiday season, but it officially backed into 2007 at X06. Its predecessor, 2005's Forza Motorsport for the original Xbox, was also a victim of backpedaling release dates, finally making it off the lot six months after its initial launch date.

In addition, speed racers know not only when they will be driving but also what they will be driving. The Forza team unveiled the final list of 300-plus cars featured in the game, considerably more than the 230-car roster of the original Forza. The list is likely to grow, as downloadable content is expected through Xbox Live Marketplace and the Forza Online Auction House.

Microsoft has been releasing the list of cars in the game in waves, with this last group covering race cars such as the 1997 Gulf Team McLaren F1 GTR, 1998 Ferrari Risi Competizione F333 SP, and Corvette Racing C6.R. For a full list of cars (both the newly added race cars and a complete list of all cars featured in Forza Motorsport 2), see below.

I see afew people complaining about the cars list - I'm sure they will add additional cars down the road, just like with Test Drive Unlimited. Either way they did a great job with the graphics / reflections on the cars. The handling and characteristics of the cars are freakin' lovely as well. Go download the demo, turn off all the assists and try not to lock the brakes up on your first 130 MPH turn. The mechanical detail to the cars, sound, power, gearing, everything seems to be truthful to the real thing - and thats just in the demo... I can't wait until the end of the month.

1987/Buick/Regal GNX????? I see 4 important omissions. IMPORTANT OMISSIONS 1963 Shelby Daytona coupe.... This car was made specifically to beat the Ferrari 250 GTO which by the way IS in the list. Its basic racing history. It was a classic rivalry between Henry Ford and Enzo Ferrari each one putting out those cars to beat each other, MAYOR SLIP ON THIS ONE. 1966 Lamborghini Miura. 1st mid-engine supercar. Absolutely beautiful piece of engineering. The whole Alfa romeo line of products... Specially the 8c Competizione and some historics. Noble?? Those are great cars...... well these.... ok leave them out. I would have taken out a few japanese junk cars that nobody in their competitive mind will race online or offline.. All in all, this will be SO SO many sleepless nights trying to get the right setup. This will be a blast!!! After this one's over i'm jumping on Gran turismo 4.............

WHAT!!! no ford fiesta.... thats a joke, i also notice no skoda in the list... i think this game with the xbox steering wheel will be a good lot of fun

why is there no bmw 6 series?? the first video had a 6 series and a 350z, now no 6 series in the list? wtf

wow, now there's 300 plus cars i don't want to drive. remember those early 360 demos with the destructable cars - that's more like but i suppose we should have known better. WE WANT TO SEE THE POWER OF THE NEW CONSOLES DELIVER FRESH GAMEPLAY IDEAS THAT EFFECT THE RACING, NOT A CRAPPY LIST OF CARS THAT TOOK 40 PEOPLE THREE YEARS TO RENDER.

I am looking forward to this game. It's a shame that they did not add the Altima on the list like the last game.

I cant wait either! I hope it isnt delayed again!

Can't wait til this comes out ......and Autolycus is right, at my store, we ALWAYS have at least 20 PS3's in stock as of the week after Christmas.

I can't wait. I 'm a paint junkie myself and, am looking forward to selling custom paint jobs.

wow that is a lot of cars

this game is looking very promising, i just hope the customization allows me to make a replica of my silvia

thats a lot of cars............... and lmao at sonypsp, do u realise that the ps3 hasn't got enough ram to run all those cars. Look at oblivion u got no dl content except for kotn cos u couldn't run it. gf

i just cant wait for the demo of this game to come out let alone for the whole game with huge amount of cars and customisablity hope fuel and tire wear is good and have long races similar to real life

Oh give me a friggin break, SonyPSP. 311 cars isn't enough for you, plus the downloadables that will be available later? And this has absolutely nothing to do with the capacity of DVD-9. Forza2 has more cars than the first Forza, plus much better graphics and physics and more customization options. What makes you think the disc capacity has anything to do with anything? Fanboi troll begone!

SonyPSP only 311 cars? thats what a 4.7gb limit on a DVD does to a next gen console. ------------------ Well it is a million times more REALISTIC then the GT series where grass has no effect on the car and either does hitting a wall a 150 mph. Oh wait, i always forget that GT fanboys cant accept that thing called reality where Blu-Ray doesnt make a lick of difference in video games. REmember that the PS3 was supposed to be the "be all end all" of video games? Now we cant get someone to pick one up @ our store for 3 months straight (no joke)

Hell yeah! They got the Chevelle SS-454. Its not as powerful as the 572 which is a beast but it will do. The only car they forgot to add was the 1970 Challenger.

1970/Ford/Mustang Boss 429 Remember it, ladies! :) See you on XBL!!! And no you can't have my gamertag. :p

only 311 cars? thats what a 4.7gb limit on a DVD does to a next gen console.

umm. wheres the buggatti??? it better be in the game. i dont care if i have to pass the game first but it better be in there. or leats i hope that u can be able to download it via XBL marketplace

I'm psyched about it. Project Gotham 3 was surprisingly less-than-great. I gave up on Gran Turismo years ago. And RalliSport 3 seems to be only a rumor. Go go gadget Forza.

More than 300 cars... u' gotta love it.

I'll wait till PGR4 hits the streets, I don't want to waste time fiddling with car settings and all that.

some real nice cars

Krunkcity3000 :Man hope they get licensed tracks. thats the only reason i couldnt get into Forza one. Nurburgring please. Laguna Seca also. they were in Forza 1

lol the european release will probably have a reliant robin and a skateboard with the logo of the lost prophets on the bottom... two vehicles total... :P And who said a normal disc was not able to store loads of data?! If gt5 takes up a bluray disc... what in the HECK is all that data doing? I mean, the advantage of a harddrive is that developers can now release any car they like, and you can then download it into your own personal garage. There is no need now for everything to be on one disc, you could even have the game on one disc, and then use the second disc to be a garage where you basically drag and drop cars onto the harddrive hehe. But I mean, thats if you want that car list to be in the 1000's. Clearly forza 2 can cram everything on a regular disc... the big question is - will this game knock the socks off of gt5? By the looks of the details on paper, and the demos I have played of gt5 - I think forza 2 looks to be the winner. Especially when Microsoft get the XBLA content on - remember that? Actually customising your own car with a pc or a mobile phone... ;)

Nice, ive driven a Celica,Silvia, civic, DEL SOL !!!!!!!!!!! Im definetely getting this game.

...And what about the UK release??? Has that been pushed back aswell or is it still May 25th? God damn M$ forgetting UK gamers again...

i had a countdown on my calendar & everything... but its worth it, cuz the list above is huuuge!

If GT5 doesn´t have a Lamborghini, don´t think i´m buying it...or the ps3 :P

The only Ferrari missing is the 599 Fiorano...but that's because GT5 took it. Then again, GT introduced Americans to pretty much every other car in the world than just the Ferraris, Lambos, and Porsches that kids pinned up to walls. Maybe that's why Kazunori Yamauchi was on Motor Trend's Power 50..."Suddenly, kids in Iowa wanted Nissan Skyline GT-Rs..." they said.

u cud play that game for years nd still not use every car lol

Since when is a delay not the norm lol.
