Former Final Fantasy artist and composer team up for Fairy Fencer F RPG

Upcoming game from new Compile Heart's offshoot brand exclusive for PS3.

by

Hyperdimension Neptunia developer Compile Heart announced that its spin-off company Galapagos RPG will be releasing a new RPG called Fairy Fencer F.

Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Amano are on board this fantasy project.

According to a Famitsu article, the PS3 exclusive game will feature concept art by Yoshitaka Amano and music by Nobuo Uematsu and his band, the Earthbound Papas. Both men used to work on the Final Fantasy series of games in their respective roles.

The game is set in an alternate modern timeline on Earth where warriors called Fencers protect the world using weapons called Furies. The story revolves around a boy named Fang who accidentally becomes a Fencer after saving a female Fencer called Tiara. The developer has yet to reveal its combat system, though it said that players can level up their Furies through fights and can use a combination of attack chains and magic.

The RPG is scheduled to be out this year in Japan. There is no word on a North American release at this point in time.

FF stands for Final Fantasy and now this Fairy Fencer. Are you all that blind to not notice the nostalgia behind this or what..?

Seems like something i will be interested in to be honest. i dunno why, but these kind of jrpg's with their ragtag bunch of characters going on some quest never tires me out. What always worries me about these types of games, is that publishers/developers will sometimes never localize these games, even if they think it will succeed in region 1, as a "thank you" to the japanese fanbase or a way to gain region 4 props.

Hopefully someone like NIS or atlus gets involved in this....

Something tells me that this game will be bashed to hell and back by the current generation of Final Fantasy fans...

Uematsu is the man.  His music seems to perfectly fit every moment.

Sudden urge to play FF6 Advance...

My thought about how this game would be:

- Art design: "Amazing!"

- Music: "Beautiful!"

- Gameplay: ". . . . ."

Fasinating. Hopefully they'll release gameplay footage or screen shots sometime in the near future.

Both of these names still hold a lot of clout with me so even though the game doesn't excite me so far, I'll keep my eye on it.

Allow me to congratulate those of you that took the rather "Grown-up" approach, by not criticizing a game before you even know anything about it, and those of you that did, clearly need to grow up, and no, growing up in no way means to play violent and sexual games, that is a misnomer. A person may play all their shooting games and watch Adult videos his whole life and still lack the intelligence to spell "C A T". Intelligence comes from learning and yes, going to school. It seems that people here are insecure as to their Maturity or rather Adultness, and they believe that playing a game or watching a childish movie somehow, makes them children or affects their adultness, this is ludicrous and the highest form of ignorance. The "west" killed off gaming in the 80s, then Japanese creativity revived it; now that the Japanese developers are trying to copy western games, it is no wonder that the gaming industry has hit a plateau and a rather unsettling drought. Could this lead and abet to the future crash? I notice a lot of people being terribly critical of Japanese games and RPGs, stating that these games have the same old concepts and stereotypes, while almost hypocritically being unmindful of their own western mindless shooters that are also very antagonisingly repetitive; from shooting zombies to ghosts to aliens and what have we. Very much a no-brainer I suppose. Oh, and not forgetting the very uneducated dialogue and conversations that results. That must be responsible for 25-30 year olds talking like teenagers, with foul language and terrible construction of a conversation. To call that a conversation, with all the swearing and awful grammer is much like calling comic books novels, or horses as donkeys. Remember I heartily recommend working on some strange thing known as "Articulation" for you will not find much of it in the forums on the internet neither here.

I'm still sad there's no more black mages... But I'll keep an eye on this since it's got two of the main talents behind most of the good final fantasy games...

Can't say much until they make any kind of trailer with some of the games features, but I will be waiting for more details on this game.

@CRAPCOM1926 This could mean that this game might top Final Fantasy XIII pretty easily.

@franzito Would you be more interested if they updated their outdated spelling methods and made it more modern?

Phairy Phfencer maybe?  Or maybe Phairystasy Star Online?  (2?)

@silvergol IMO, FF13 gameplay is not that bad. It's just too linear and no city that feels so different from previous FF games. Battle system? I think it's actually brilliant and very well thought. Too many cutscene? Change most of it with character speaking with bubble speech, and it's not much different with other FF games.

@Arkhalipso @FaustXII Is not that good to begin with it. Is Just COOL game but i have seent better, they were call FINAL FANTASY and DRAGON QUESTS....but that was long time ago T_T ( Rip FF 2002, Rip DQ 2012)

@tandukbadak FF13's battle system is ok, but it needs to be more than ok when all you do is running down boring corridors and watching cut scenes with HORRIBLE dialogue.

@franzito @SeAzhrei It's your opinion, but what is your opinion based at, aside from the title name?

If that''s all, then that wasn't an opinion at all..
