Forget microtransactions: Dungeon Keeper free on GOG.com
GOG offers up a bunch of classic games for Valentine's Day.
Online retailer GOG.com is giving away the original Dungeon Keeper for free this weekend.
The version available on GOG is specifically the Gold Edition of the 1997 classic, which comes with the Deeper Dungeons expansion included as part of the package. The game's arguably inferior (but prettier) sequel Dungeon Keeper 2 is also available with a 75 percent discount for $1.49 (approximately 90p).
Still: Both Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 have had a better reception than the microtransaction-fueled Dungeon Keeper reboot for mobile, which has been frustrating longtime fans of the series since its release, including original series creator Peter Molyneux.
The giveaway is part of GOG.com's Valentine's Day sale, which is offering some decent discounts on some classic titles: System Shock 2, Alpha Centauri, and Syndicate Wars are available for $1.49, for example.
