After developing a long line of minor releases, such as Bad Boys II and Ford Street Racing, Empire Interactive appears to have a genuine hit on its hands in the form of FlatOut 2. Today, the British-headquartered publisher announced the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2 racing game has sold a total of 1 million units worldwide--just one month after it hit the 500,000 unit mark.

Empire also used the occasion to narrow the launch window of its first FlatOut game for the Xbox 360--and tweak its title. Originally called FlatOut: Total Carnage when it was first announced last year, the game is now known as FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage. It will arrive in stores in June, but as of now, no rating or pricing information for the game is yet available.
