Flashback Creator Announces New Game

Subject 13 will focus on the imprisonment and escape of a physics professor.

by

Indie developer Microids and Paul Cuisset, creator of the hit adventure game from 1992, Flashback, have announced their new game, Subject 13.

Subject 13 focuses on a kidnapped physics professor and his attempt to escape imprisonment. According to the developer, "as [professor] Franklin Fargo, players will interact with the 3D environment around them by collecting, using, and manipulating objects to overcome a multitude of devious barriers to the professor's escape." As the game progresses, the reasons why he was taken are revealed, and he is forced to confront the tragedies in his past.

Cuisset previously developed Future Wars, Moto Racer, and The Stealth Affair, in addition to Flashback. The adventure game was wildly successful and became one of the best-selling French games of all time. In 2013, Cuisset directed a remake of Flashback, but it wasn't great.

No information about release date or platforms has been revealed.

Just a question here with the story being about a physics professor can I expect a lot of sarcasm about the game's actual physics?

Well, color me intrigued (whatever color that is), I'm very interested in this game. Hope it comes to Xbox One and not just PC (which is a given platform).

but they weren't the creator of Flashback...they were the creators of the remake of Flashback.

Sounds very Portal-like... but the idea seems cool.

Pfff...another game that focuses on the imprisonment and escape of a physics professor.  I feel like that's the only game that companies are making anymore, how many times do I have to be a physics professor?  :)

@Superfluential "Paul Cuisset, creator of the hit adventure game from 1992, Flashback"

That bit was the giveaway that he was indeed the creator of the original game ;)

that being said, they did a piss poor job in the remake, definitely a dev I will avoid.

@spacecadet25 The real problem here is that you cannot be a female physics professor :).  I had to, sorry :).
