First Warcraft movie set image emerges

Latest issue of Hollywood news magazine gives us the first look at the upcoming fantasy film from Blizzard and Legendary Pictures.

The latest issue of Hollywood news magazine Empire includes the first images ever revealed from the in-production Warcraft film at Legendary Pictures. We see the two monitors director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) is looking at, which appear to give us a first look at the Stormwind throne room.

Unfortunately, that's all we can turn out from the image, posted at Darkhorizons.

Warcraft is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2016. It was originally slated to arrive on December 18, 2015, but Blizzard delayed the film's release after Disney announced that Star Wars: Episode VII would also arrive on December 18.

The Warcraft movie features an Orcs. vs. Humans plot and acclaimed Star Wars effects studio Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is working on the film to help bring its CG scenes to life. The next World of Warcraft expansion is Warlords of Draenor, which launches this year.

When will you lemmings get it through your thick skull? This is NOT a WoW movie! It's a Warcraft movie. Based on the good stuff. The really good stuff.

Why is David Bowie's son wasting his time with video game movies?

It will be about a nerd who suddenly wakes up at the middle of the day after a nightmare (he spent the whole night farming in WOW) where he saw him self as an old guy on a wheel chair crying at how many hours of his life and the amounts of money wasted on a shitty mmo and come to realise thats now he is about to die of old age while after all these years the only thing he knew is WOW and proceeds to die in a pool of tears.

So just to be clear, this story is going to be based off of the original Warcraft games and not WoW?

I'm surprised I see no green or blue screens in that picture... Anyway, I wonder how much of this world they're going to show us.. Be pretty disappointed if they kept the entire film constrained around Storm Wind

Haha, very informative images, could have been taken from a LARP for all we know.

Never played WoW, but the fans should rest assured they have a good director at the helm.

There are so much amazing games with great story that would make amazing movie, yet they always choose worst of the worst.

@uchihasilver

@slicedbread117 All warcraft games are canon, from what I know. So you're not really asking the right question I think :O Warcraft, is warcraft.

@XNEXUS666X  I wasnt really a fan of moon, the plot was given away by the trailer, but also there wasnt that much plot to begin with. Guy realizes that he's a clone and flys down to earth tospread the word, thats the story...

that being said the direction was top notch

@Saidrex  warcraft has a ton of lore to make a great movie, its not just WoW.

@Saidrex There are so many amazing games out there, but people generally choose to buy the worst. It's not just one perpetrator that is responsible for this.

@FrankDuxx @uchihasilverThe time is not what matters..it's the cost. It cost Blizzard quite a lot to make the cinematics for Heart of the Swarm campaign and they only had like 15-20min worth of cinematics in that (probably less than that, I can't recall).

We all wish it would be made by their cinematic studio, but alas risking so much money on it would be a big gamble.

@FrankDuxx @uchihasilver  Not as much as you think. Just look at Pixar. But anyway, I prefer the fact that it is live action. I am up for seeing the Warcraft universe from another point of view.

@ShinobiMedic @slicedbread117

Actually, slicedbread is right; the Warcraft movie will be based on the events that happen in the first couple of RTS games, not WoW.

@loudangryjerk @XNEXUS666X  Spoiler alert! Everyone kept telling me to watch Moon and I said it sounds shit. But now you have told me what its about it sounds ok, might have to watch it.

@sigmact @Saidrex  I agree with Sigmact, you clearly have never touched the Warcraft series Saidrex, it has an absolute tonne of lore which could be used in multiple movies.
