As first revealed by GameSpot News last month, TalonSoft is currently working on a PlayStation2 version of its upcoming sci-fi real-time strategy game War Monkeys. We've recently acquired some new details and screens of the game in action.

Developed by Silicon Dreams, War Monkeys takes place in the year 2161 on a small planet called Primus IV. Here, three opposing forces wage war in a full 3D world. The game features a powerful 3D engine that can display up to 200 individual units onscreen at a time and can reportedly mimic the size of battlefields up to 25 kilometers.

TalonSoft has informed us that one of the main themes that will be stressed in War Monkeys is the ongoing cultivation of armies - increasing their capabilities and strengths. This seems to set it apart from most other traditional RTS games that feature expendable units.

Also of note is the sound department of War Monkeys. Charleston Heston will do the honors of providing the main voice talent for the game, and Fatboy Slim will lend his talents to the soundtrack.

The PC version of War Monkeys is slated for release at the end of July, while the PlayStation2 version should follow in late 2000. Be assured that we'll be following this one closely as the year progresses.
