Telegames has today released the first information on its Soccer Kid platform game for the Game Boy Advance. The game was originally released for the Commodore Amiga some years ago, but Telegames plans to release GBA and PlayStation versions before the end of the year.

The plot in the game sees the soccer World Cup being stolen on the day of the 1994 final by an alien pirate called Scab, who then proceeds to crash into an asteroid while escaping. The trophy breaks into five pieces, which, as luck would have it, all manage to land in different parts of the world. Attempting to recover the trophy pieces, players get to assume the role of Soccer Kid, a young boy with impressive soccer skills that need to be put to good use to progress through the game. For example, the ball can be jumped on to gain extra height and kicked at enemies to knock them out of the way.

Players will visit roughly 20 levels around the world, taking in locations such as England, Italy, Russia, Japan, and North America. There are more than 40 different types of enemies and six different bosses to overcome before completing the game. Soccer Kid is scheduled for release next month in both North America and Europe. We'll bring you more information on the game as it becomes available.
