Freeform Interactive, a studio founded by the team that created the Future vs. Fantasy mod for Quake, is working on a new first-person shooter set in a futuristic sci-fi fantasy world. The game features some role-playing-style character development, and it focuses on the conflict between a group of genetically modified humans known as the Order and a magical religious group known as the Chosen. Purge is the name of the war that erupted after the Order killed the leader of the Chosen.

Players will assume the role of one of several types of characters, including the android, commando, cyborg, and wastelander on the side of the Order and the mage, assassin, fighter, and monk on the side of the Chosen. Each character will have a different set of attributes and skills that will partially affect the outcome of different situations.

We've posted some early screenshots from the game in the gallery above. Purge is scheduled to enter closed beta testing this month. No official publisher or release date has been announced. For more information, visit the official Purge Web site.
