Microsoft has unveiled its first-party basketball game NBA Inside Drive 2002 for the Microsoft Xbox. The game will feature three primary modes of play: exhibition, season, and playoffs. Currently, there is no word on a franchise mode. The game will feature an advanced on-the-fly play calling system, where players will be able to step into the shoes of the coach and choose from more than two-dozen plays during the course of the on-court action. The plays are organized by type into groups called playsets. The name of the playset will help the player know when to use the plays in that group. Each of the teams in the game has its own unique playbook, which can be customized further.

Microsoft promises a complex post-up game and a variety of top-of-the-key dribble moves for the game. NBA Inside Drive 2002 will be released early next year for the Xbox.
