Midway has released the first details on and screenshots from the PlayStation 2 version of CART Fury. Originating in the arcades, this fully licensed CART racing game features 15 authentic drivers. There will be five different gameplay modes--including simulation, arcade season, and driving 101--and minigames such as "follow the driving line." Other features include three different camera views, a turbo option, and massive, over-the-top car wrecks.

The real-life drivers featured in the game include Michael Andretti, Christian Fittipaldi, Gil de Ferran, Adrian Fernandez, Mark Blundell, Juan Montoya, Jimmy Vasser, Max Papis, Bryan Herta, Tony Kanaan, Danny Sullivan, Willy T. Ribbs, Bill Lester, Jenny Sheehy, and Juliana Chiovitti. Additionally, the game will include 18 tracks--seven authentic CART courses from the arcade version and 11 fantasy tracks that will be exclusive to the PlayStation 2 version. The PlayStation 2-exclusive tracks are California speedway road course, airport raceway, downtown Frankfurt, downtown Chicago, the skyway construction zone, the driving school course, and tracks set in Miami, New York, the Rocky Mountains, Boston, and the moon.

CART Fury will be released for the PlayStation 2 in Q2 2001.
