First details have surfaced regarding 3DO's Sarge's War for the GameCube. The game will be a sequel to the Sarge's Heroes games that appeared on multiple consoles. In the game, the Tan army has unleashed a secret weapon that destroys the entire Green army, and it's up to Sarge to extinguish the threat all on his own. The game is said to have a much harder edge than previous games in the series, with more of an emphasis on combat and improved enemy AI.

Other features include real-time character destruction such as holes blown through chests, dismemberment, and melting. The game will include more than 600 motion-captured animations, dynamic lighting and shadows, and a vast array of weapons including flamethrowers, crossbows, sniper rifles, shotguns, bazookas, and mounted machine guns.

Army Men: Sarge's War is currently scheduled for release in spring 2003. We'll have more on the game as it becomes available.
