Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster to feature bonus 30-minute cutscene

New end credits scene scripted by original game's scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.

Fans anticipating the HD remakes of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 will be getting an extra in a form of an additional ending cutscene.

Will the new cutscene feature more forced laughs from Tidus and Yuna?

According to Square Enix (via Japanese magazine Shonen Jump), the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster collection will include a new 30-minute long ending scene that will play in the collection's end credits, presumably after gamers have finished both games. The scene will feature newly-recorded voices and will be written by series scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.

Square Enix has yet to announce the release date for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The game will be out for the PS3 and PS Vita.

Square Enix could make HUGE money if they remake FF 7,8,9 and put all their resources into this rather than making another dumb sh!t (*cough ... FF14).

Sadly they're very stubborn or not that smart.

I feel sorry for the dumb suckers who will actually buy this.  An HD-remaster for a 10+ year old game is like a 1980's movie on Blue-ray.  Sure, Blue-ray format allows sharper visuals, but that doesn't change that the movie was filmed with a 1980's camera.  FFX was developed with 10+ year old computer graphics tech, and boosting the resolution isn't going to change the fact that you'll be looking at dated textures, models and animations.

Square used to be such a great studio, but they seem to be so stuck in their past (and their own asses), that they've completely lost touch with most of their audience.  How many more times can they milk/crap on the FF franchise before people completely forget about them.

FFXIV...I mean really...

hmm...i wonder what this 30min cutscene would be like. yuna & tidus having a family? the game was awesome as it is. im a bit worried this additional cutscene might ruin it for me... T_T

I think a FF hd remake for each of the ff games since the ps1 would be fantastic. Release on xbox one and ps4 would be fantastic. would sell millions of copies.

So basically what square is saying is that im going to pay for a 30 min cutscene ? how about extra boss fights, a hidden dungeon, more weapons/ upgrades, new enemies, and additional sidequests........srsly is like square has no imagination for synergy.

I wish Square-Enix will remove the Blitz ball game or change it in this HD collection coz the sport is NOT fun at all and pain to play.  The HD collection will only contain 30-minute long CG ending scene as extras?  This is hardly to justify the re-purchase of the games, imo.

I would love a Final Fantasy XII International release with the Zodiac Job System for PS3/Vita (it has 12 license boards for all characters, and you can control your spers), I hate it when japanese people keep the good stuff to themself :/

Still have no idea how Wakka nailed Lulu.  Maybe the cutscene is a 30 minute movie of how he gets her absolutely blitzed, before he rushes for the endzone.

Ahhh...an HD remake of a Final Fantasy game that nobody wanted.

I ran FF X through a emulator on max settings and judging from the screens here... I think it might be prettier on a Emu.

Nobody who is a real JRPG fan is looking forward to the re-release of X2.

Hopefully they give the same treatment to 3 certain characters at the end of X-2 like they did a certain "hero"   (Worded to avoid spoilers)

Bummer it's not cross buy.  I think I'll probably get the Vita version to have it on the go.

Well, now I have a reason to ... Youtube the ending... Now confirm the online blitzball and make me want to buy it, it doesn't appear as much of an upgrade as Shadow of the Colossus.

Well since my disk is no longer playable, I will be buying this. Replaying X-2 right away, and waiting a few years to spend another hundred hours on X :P

@Abberon Final Fantasy 10 is one of the best games of the series & its going to have trophies to push you to get everything.  You should try it before judging it.  Only someone who has never played it would say something like you did above.  Anyone who judges a game purely on the graphics isn't a real gamer.

@Abberon The reason film's from the 80's and older are remastered on to bluray even though they were not filmed with modern camera's is because 60mm film grain has more than 1080p resolution to be had, in fact, watching something like Casa Blanca or Ghostbusters on bluray after they master it in 4k and down rez it to 1080p, is absolutely amazing.  The colors more vibrant, clarity much better.  It actually looks as good as alot of modern blurays.

FFX was one of the last truly loved Final Fantasy's for alot of people, which is why it is getting an overhaul in textures, clarity, and even updated bitmaps etc...  They are even redoing voice overs.  If you enjoyed the story from this game and want to see it updated so it looks amazing in the HDTV world, you will want to buy this version for sure.

FF15 looks pretty sick actually, it is now an action game and it looks insanely awesome unlike the MMO crap they put out or FF 12 and 13.

@Honenheim To be fair, this game is old, it's not like they are releasing DLC for a game that was released in the past two years or anything.

@HappyBB Best mini-game ever in FF series. I cant even count the hours i spent on Blitzball, in fact that would be the only reason i would buy Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, if they add new, hidden  Blitzball players and if they add the Zanarkand Abes and the Zanarkand Duggles and if Square-Enix makes it possible to hire some of the players in those teams, i would definetly buy it just for that reason...if they dont....then they won't be seeing my money.

@HappyBB Blitzball was one of my fav things about FFX. I remember staying up all night with friends to play it. Best mini-game in any FF game, ever :D

You're probably just bad at it, which doesn't mean it's a bad mini game at all.

@HappyBB WHAT.... BLITZBALL is labeled the greatest minigame to grace video games. It is great!!!!!

Amen brother, and whilst they are it, how about Type-0 in English as well? I would definitely buy XII again on Vita though, esp. with IZJS.

@nuno999 360 players should start a petition then.  I'm a Sony gamer but I'd sign it.  Gotta support my Xbox brethren.

@Xenro4 @frylock1987 hell ff9 had a medieval setting with technology, but it actually managed to pull it off to the point were it was believable. The fact the tech ran off the mist, and was designed by a genius and was not very common was believable.

Aaronp2k
Aaronp2k

@Xenro4 @frylock1987 and for anyone who argues that ff6 is better, ff6 made absolutely no sense. In a time where they have robots what fire magicka, trains and so on they have houses still made out of straw and wood. Why when so technologically advanced would civilisation still make houses out of wood and straw, I mean in the real world our technology is only just drawing close to having robots, and we did away with straw and wood houses centuries ago for christ sake. I know its a fantasy game, but you have to draw a line somewhere or it just becomes too far fetched. FF7 was much more realistic, only villages had old skool housing, the built up areas had industrial residences. And the setting was not a cliche medieval setting like every othe rpg under the sun, it was different.

Aaronp2k
Aaronp2k

@Xenro4 @frylock1987 I think what he meant was more people would prefer a hd remake of ff7 rather than ffx (and especially x-2 which was plain awful). If my assumption is correct then I agree, ff7 was by far the best final fantasy (and the last good final fantasy game was ff9).

LyonShion

@Aaronp2k @Xenro4 @frylock1987and one more, please if they do remake from PSX or from Nintendo, please dont.. except they want to draw or make the video, and all the grafik thing to the whole new level (level of PS4 and XBOX One) dont do only HD or better Quality Picture thing but all the way from character, city, game Grafik, all the way  with the Grafik of PS4 with of course the same story and same battle system and same gameplay.. thats all...

LyonShion

@Aaronp2k @Xenro4 @frylock1987 i think like or fav like taste, u cant say to anyone spice is the best taste, for me self, i play alot of Square Soft (now Enix) game title from FF III (in ds i think) til FF 12 (Which in DS too) how i played actually pretty random, first ff 8 in PS, then ff 7, ff 9, ff 6 (remake in ps i think) but what i want to say.. for me the best FF Series is FF X. i got like couple reason for it.. but its only subjective.. so someone like that one better, or another one.. and i don't think remake of ff X, that nobody wanted, because Square Enix is not dumb, they wouldn't make something or remake something that not sell.

@clockworkengine @Aaronp2k @Xenro4 @frylock1987 Agreed.  You're trying to argue why a fictional story created in '94 for a video game didn't make complete sense.  That's beyond nit picky (by those standards you shouldn't even be able to stand playing FFVII).  We were lucky the translation was halfway decent, and even then the story was still exceptionally moving.  I'm one of the people that's on the fence about whether FFIV or VI is the best of all time (comparing them all at their respective primes of course) but I did enjoy FFVII as well.

clockworkengine
clockworkengine

@Aaronp2k @Xenro4 @frylock1987  Not that I disagree about VI not being the best, but VI was a story of people living under the boot of an evil megaempire. When you live under tyrants who take your money and rights away, you live in whatever housing you can afford-- straw houses and slums. Even in VII where they have metal airships with jet propulsion, a computerized broadcasting system, railways, etc... you can still go to places like Gongaga and see people living in makeshift housing.
