Final Fantasy VII G-Bike Coming to iOS and Android

The Combat Racing Minigame From Final Fantasy VII Launching in Japan This Fall.

by

There's still no indication that we're likely to get a mobile version of Final Fantasy VII anytime soon, but we are going to get a piece of it. Remember the motorcycle combat minigame that you could find in the Gold Saucer amusement location? According to the latest issue of Famitsu (and subsequently reported by Siliconera), Square Enix and CyberConnect2 will be releasing a mobile version of the game this fall in Japan, dubbed Final Fantasy VII G-Bike.

The game tweaks the original in a number of ways, with players now able to both jump and slide the bike as they fight off Shinra bikers. Also, there will apparently be multiple bikes for you to choose from, and each can be customized using materia.

If successful, it seems that this may be the first of several Gold Saucer-themed minigames that Square Enix is planning for iOS and Android. Perhaps the rock-paper-scissors-like 3D Battler? Or Chocobo Racing? Or even the oft-rumored snowboarding game?

(Note: The screenshot is from Final Fantasy VII, not from the mobile version.)

Didn't they release this and that snowboard minigame for Japanese cellphones 17 years ago?

Somehow I figure they are just going to ruin that mini-game with overpriced micro-transactions.

I'll just wait until they add this into FFXIV's Gold Saucer.

This is hilarious.  Out of one of the most amazing games of all time, they port over the worst section of gaming in that whole game.  That motorcycle part was horrible LOL.

Why not on 3DS/Vita as well?  I dont want to use a freakin touchscreen to play games. Ugh

At least it's not a full-blown remake of a game which shouldn't even need a remake.

I don't mind phone games coming out of this but honestly, Just redo the damn game and give us the FFVII compendium, original game DL, new game redone with FFXV visuals and extras, Blu-ray advent children Dir. Cut, dirge of Cerberus, and the FFVII PSP game with better visuals (not that they were bad) $99.99.

i'd buy that, day one

@IgOr2099 They'd probably want to redo the battle system as they seem convinced turn based is out and battles have to be without transition.  I absolutely hate the battle systems they've come up with for every game past X (can't necessarily speak for the online FF's).

@normanislost @DanielL5583 it wouldn't be the same though. They wouldn't make the same with an isometric view anymore, I would imagine. It just wouldn't work today.

@TheLazyClown @Rayzakk There are more FFVII games than FFXIII right now.  VII, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, I think there was A Japan only mobile release, and now this.  Also the movie/sequel to this game too, plus that anime bit.

@TheLazyClown @Rayzakk How has FF7 not been milked, but in this case it may not be so much milking but cranking out crap instead of the games that fans have wanted for a long time. Give us a good turn based game (like Bravely Default without the stupid online components but for a console).

@finaleve @TheLazyClown @Rayzakk erm 3 games vs 3 games would be the same number of games as FF13

also FF7s 3 games were released over a span of 17 YEARS!!!! FF13 has had 3 games since 2009...... you two need to look at your definition of milking....

@normanislost

Advent Children

Before Crisis

rereleasing on pc

this bike game

Dirge of Cerburus

The Last Order

Crisis Core

Not all games, but thoroughly milked.

@Rayzakk @normanislost ok firstly lets lose "PC rerelease" since making a game that was already available available again is just silly considering it's the exact same game just windows 7 compatible

so that's 4 games (soon to be 5), 1 film and a manga over the space of 17 years......that's still not milking over that length of time

although I had never heard of before crisis till now so im off to track it down

@normanislost @Rayzakk So how many are required for milking.  Another game make it milking, 2, 3, how many?  The rerelease had added features also.  I call milking and whatever we say are opinions and you seem intent so push yours as more valid than mine.  Keep your, and I'll keep mine.

@normanislost @Rayzakk You mean it's not clear?
