Final Fantasy PS2 Network Compatible

Square's Final Fantasy for the PS2 is going to be network compatible.

Comments

Square has announced during a CESA (Computer Entertainment Software Association) conference that Final Fantasy for the Sony PlayStation2 will be network compatible. Sony has recently announced that, starting in 2001, its own network system will use cable TV to distribute movies, music, and software for the PS2. The PS2 Final Fantasy will make use of Sony's network system, as well as normal phone line systems later on. Square says that data transfers will definitely make the game much more interesting.

In other news, there have been reports from Japan that Final Fantasy IX for the current PlayStation may not have the number "IX" on it. This may indicate that the next installment may be a spin-off series. Square has given no comment regarding this report.

GameSpot News will bring you more details soon.
