Cloud was announced as a character for the Nintendo game in a Direct presentation last month. We'll have full gameplay videos from the presentation embedded here soon.

Cloud will have two major costume choices with multiple color variations. One costume is based on the standard Cloud uniform, and the other borrows from his look in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

In addition to the character gameplay, we also saw the new Midgar stage in action. Picking up Materia items in this stage will bring out the powerful Summons you might recognize from FF7. But rather rather than directly attacking other characters, these beasts will directly affect the stage.

Summons in the game (which you can check out in a gameplay video coming soon) will include:

  • Ifrit
  • Ramuh
  • Odin
  • Leviathan
  • Bahamut Zero

When a character is knocked out by a summon, the player that called the summon gets a point, as opposed to normal stage affects.

Cloud and his accompanying Midgar stage will be available today for $6 on either Wii U or 3DS, or you can get the character and stage on both systems for $7.

You can catch up on all of the announcements from today's final Smash Direct presentation, including the announcement of a new Fire Emblem fighter, right here.
