Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - Mogstools And Moogle Shops Guide

Kup-on catching those unruly Moogles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Comments

You'll encounter a lot of creatures in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Some are cute, while others are just plain weird. These are, however, those that are a combination of the two. Here's our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Moogle Shops and Mogstools guide to help you find these rampaging fluffballs.

How to unlock all Mogstools and Moogle Shops in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

You can unlock Moogle Shops by completing the Moogle Mischief minigame. This involves catching the five Moogles that are roaming around each Mogstool realm or play area.

Note that Mogstools are giant mushroom homes, which are denoted by a Moogle icon on your map. They're often in easy to reach areas, too, so we've got a few maps for you to check in the next sections.

Mogstool locations: Grasslands, Junon, North Corel, and South Corel

These are where you can find the Mogstools the Grasslands, Junon, North Corel (i.e. Costa del Sol), and South Corel (i.e. Corel Desert) regions:

Moogle abilities and getting hit by attacks

To catch Moogles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you need to be mindful of two things: each Moogle's ability/attack, and the number of times that you can get hit. In terms of Moogle attacks, you have to watch out for the following:

  • Moog (grey) = Throws bombs that explode after a few seconds.
  • Mokey (yellow) = Tosses banana peels that cause you to slip and fall.
  • Mosh (green) = Casts crescent-shaped wind projectiles.
  • Molala (red) = Casts orbs that fly outward.
  • Molulu (blue) = Calls on fireworks that will hit the targeted spots on the ground.

Among these critters, we feel that Mosh and Molala are the most dangerous. That's because they can quickly cast their spells/projectiles as you attempt to get close to them. As far as difficulty is concerned:

  • Normal mode - By default, you can only get hit twice. Get hit for a third time and you'd have to retry.
  • Easy mode - If you're forced to retry a couple of times in one challenge, you unlock easy mode. You can get hit up to five times before failure.
  • Note that the challenges in the Grasslands, Junon, and both Corel regions tend to be fairly manageable. Things start to ramp up from Gongaga onward. This is when you'll notice Moogles shooting projectiles that are faster and more numerous than before. There are also obstacles that block your movement.

Tips when trying to catch Moogles

The main goal if you want to catch Moogles is to have them move all the way to the tree at the center of the area. If you run toward them, they'll float in the opposite direction away from you. As such, you have to be mindful of how you'd approach them, lest they move the wrong way.

You may also notice tornadoes in some arenas, or floor panels that make tornadoes appear. You can bait Moogles to move toward these twisters, causing them to get stunned. While a Moogle is stunned, you can hold the L2 button to carry them, though they'll free themselves after a few seconds elapse.

Moogle Shop items

Upon completing each region's challenge, you unlock more items for the Moogle Shops in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. These include all sorts of consumable/restorative items, some accessories, and Folios. Note that Folios grant skill points (SP) for a particular character, allowing you to unlock additional Limit Breaks and Synergy Abilities.

Moogle Medal locations

Moogle Shop items cost a special currency: Moogle Medals. There are three ways to get them:

  • Remnawave Crates - The breakable crates found at Remnawave Towers usually contain Moogle Medals.
  • Chocobo Digging - Your Chocobo mount will periodically detect buried items while you're exploring. In most cases, these are random resources or consumables. However, there are instances when you might find Moogle Medals.
  • Retry Moogle Mischief - You can retry Moogle Mischief challenges to receive a Moogle Medal.

Final reward: All Mogstool activities completed

After finding all seven Mogstools and Moogle Shops in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you'll receive a special reward. We don't want to spoil the cutscene that plays, but the item that you'll get is the Stuffed Moogle. This is a collectible, which can be displayed.
