Fighting Fantasy bearing down on DS
Classic series of interactive role-playing books resurfaces as Aspyr preps Warlock of Firetop Mountain for Nintendo handheld.
The Fighting Fantasy series of books is a natural fit for gaming, as the dozens of diverse entries in the franchise spiced its prose with Choose Your Own Adventure-style interactivity and Dungeons & Dragons-esque dice-driven battles. However, the franchise's last foray into games was the critically panned Deathtrap Dungeon for the PC and the original PlayStation.
Now the franchise is set for a second stab at gaming glory. Aspyr Media today announced Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain for the DS. Set for release this October, the action role-playing game will adapt the original book in the series, which sees players seek out a sinister mage within the Dwarven Firetop Mountain Keep.
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is being developed by London, Ontario-based Big Blue Bubble. The company's previous efforts for the DS include Mage Knight: Destiny's Soldier, I Spy Fun House, Animal Genius, and Army Men: Soldiers of Misfortune.
