Fight Night Champion demo punches XBL, PSN Feb. 1

Trial for EA's upcoming M-rated fighter hits download spaces early next month; full game arrives March 1.

EA Sports' Fight Night Champion--the first M-rated series entry--takes the fight to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 1. But gamers hoping to get between the ropes before that date can download a demo for the game beginning early next month.
Make Pacquiao bleed like this on February 1.

According to sports gaming blog Pasta Padre, EA Sports will unleash a demo for Fight Night Champion on February 1 on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The report did not offer specifics as to what the demo will consist of.

As far as gameplay goes, EA is promising a refined physics-based animation system and a new "full spectrum punch control" scheme in Champion. The game is in development at EA Canada by the team that put together last year's Fight Night Round 4. i played the demo and always found that this game (played round 3 on psp) always (except when it came out for consoles using the whole rolling the joystick to punch) was just fun both online and off.

the demo really disappointed me. i am not sure if i am just stuck in the mind set of the last two games in the series, as far as the control scheme goes, but playing this demo felt like a step back for the genre. i found it quite boring, even if it is only a demo. perhaps the legacy and story modes will change my mind but as of right now i'm on the fence about it...

Just played the demo, it's awesome! It makes you think like a boxer, since I box, but also you need to land punches and do it smartly if you're going to last the fight. If you've played FN4 then you will probably try to use the right analog for blocking control for a bit. But the graphics are great, the animations are awesome and the fighters (I first played as Tyson v Ali), and they fight like you've seen them on TV Ali is agile, quick, uses the ropes and is always bobbing, while Tyson, isn't as agile but has strong punches. Granted it's just a demo w/ only 3 rounds, you have the option to fight in Welterweight or the Heavyweight division and you can play on XBL. I'm glad I've got it reserved already!

.....hope this game is as good as Fight Night round 2!! the only thing that i really didn't like about that FNR2 was the super punch crap...besides that, to me thats the best boxing game ever, and holyfields real deal boxing comes next. All that about the physics is good, but the so called "realism" has been taking away the fun in this boxing title. I remember on FNR4, the dude in front of you could be superior in all the aspects and you (with your created boxer) still managed to beat him, with really normal to sub-par stats. Like somebody wrote before, get the career mode better and work the physics later.

Fight Night Round 4 was enjoyable and addictive but the series needs not get any bloodier, as violence is not the emphasis of the sport. I'll still pick this up yet I hope EA Canada would focus on a career mode with more variety rather than injury physics.

I would love to see 2k get into boxing with the technology and the way their basketball games are would be sick to see a boxing game by them...EA are still making this boxing series to stiff they need more movement.....

I'm interested, as long as the sucker-punch of DLC for game modes which should have been available from the disc isn't repeated. My last purchase in this series (Round 4) was a rip-off.
