FIFA 15 Has Visible Breathing, Hair Movement, New Body Rigging

Overall, EA promises "whole new level of visuals" for this year's installment, at least on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

In the lead-up to FIFA 15's release this September, EA Sports today released a new video that talks up the ways in which the soccer simulator will offer a "whole new level of visuals." The game runs on EA's proprietary Ignite game engine, the same technology behind EA Sports UFC.

EA calls out in the video that character models are going to be authentic this time around; the video even shows an eerily accurate render of US striker Clint Dempsey. This is possible thanks in part to an overhauled lighting system that should make players look more believable, EA Sports says.

FIFA 15 also features new character models and body rigging, which EA Sports says will make players feel "powerful and effective." On top of that, the game will offer visible breathing (you'll see a player's chest pulse as he breathes), as well as hair movement which should be pretty amazing for players like Kyle Beckerman.

In addition, the jerseys you wear in FIFA 15 will become dirty with mud and grass as matches unfold, and cleats and slide tackles will now leave marks on the field.

"From the most realistic players ever created in a FIFA title to fully realized arenas with living pitches, this year we've brought a whole new level of visuals to the game," senior producer Nick Channon says in the video, going on to tease that "incredible visuals are only one part of the FIFA 15 story."

The video you see above was captured on work-in-progress versions of FIFA 15 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It remains to be seen if these new features will also be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of FIFA 15. If it's anything like EA Sports' other high-profile upcoming game NHL 15, last-generation players will have to make do without some of the snazziest features.

FIFA 15 launches September 23 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC.

Player movement still looks awfully stiff. I guess its too difficult to get right. I see it on every sports game.

Why is everyone hating on this? Small things like this make the game more realistic, not really a bad thing. If they never improved visuals, I suppose that would be much better though...

yes, because visual breathing and hair movement are central to the mechanics of a football game.

I wonder if EA purposely leaves things out of the games so that they can put them in the next edition and make another list of "new" features

I don't get why PES downgraded his graphics and Fifa stay at this kind of cartoonized graphics, it looks too childish, not real.

Take a look on PES 2010 Cristiano Ronaldo's face.

It looks way more realistic than PES 2014/2015 and Fifa 14/15 (next-gen).

this is lame because i won't be able to see many of these features - i play really zoomed out

At no point has anyone ever said to me "that fifa game needs better visuals". Ever. What Fifa needs is to improve the game engine and for the love of god include better/more game modes. They haven't made any adjustments of merit to the career mode or be a pro mode in years. All they seem to do is mess it around a bit and repackage it and add features to FUT so idiots will buy card packs for $3.99 a pack...

I want a co-op be a pro career mode.

Strange, all this 'new' stuff and they still move all wooden and look as lifeless as plastic. Every sport game's the same, Madden NBA all of 'em. The games are the same all the time, just have a different number on the case, shovel ware.

Two things EA need to do with FIFA:

1) Remove the RIDICULOUSLY pixel perfect offside setting!  A player only has to have a hair out of place and they're marked as offside, a little leniency or mistakes by refs/linesmen would be good.

2) The ability to create your own team and kit.  Including colours, badge and country/town of origin.

I can't wait for FIFA15, but I still know i'll be screaming at the offside decisions!

Put Neymar on the cover, I'm so tired of Messi.

People keep saying fifas the same every edition, iv always been baffled as to why people think that. When you play each yearly edition it's feels different when played and you have to get used to it, play 14 and try and play 13, 13 feels backwards with it's dribbling. 14 made dribbling much better and fluid because you don't have too press the left trigger when dribbling, and 14 has more emphasise on blocking and jostling too.

One thing iv realised to why people think it's the same game. Is that when they play fifa, (again just my take), they're used to and comfortable with playing a same style of football ( for example maybe long through balls and pace). So because that's the style of play their accustomed too, they continue with that style through out each edition. If I'm using my earlier example to make a point, if your playing that basic style of play, it's waay easier to master and it makes games predictable, due to knowing what exact moment every time to play a long through ball, or knowing that ronaldo will always get to it.

By playing like that, you miss out on a lot of what fifa can do if you try to play differently. Iv always compared fifa to like a fighting game. You. An have a basic level of enjoyment with it, but if you learn to master it theirs a much more complex system in place. You have to know what skill to use for what situation ( people complain about it, but you could compare them to button mashers in fighting games), how to keep the ball better, people play with no patience In their possession and are overly direct, you are able to pass the ball backwards you know, that's adviced as it's important to keep shape. Knowing how to custom tactics to suit your style of play, knowing how to make use of third man runs, finesse shooting, knowing when to make attacks, knowing now to jostle and shield ( which you rarely see much of, if your wondering why a small attacker has just brushed off your strong mid or defender, your not jostling or shielding, the amount of times iv used Diego Costa to run onto ground through balls and barge defenders has been ridiculous), knowing how to use first touch and close control, knowing how to flick the analog stick to flick the ball infront ( one of the best to use if you use it right, I was once iniesta, flicked the analog stick twice, and it was literally to consecutive fluid movements to knock the ball around 2 defenders, hard to do, but looks good when you can), low chips to delicately lift the ball over keepers when through on goal. Then look at those players who can do the amazing dribbling skills, rainbow kicking balls over keeps instead of chipping, lift the ball of the ground for another player to volley, master free kicks and different styles, and don't forget the ones who can play the game on manual controls, it's like a different game when you do that.

Of course it's not perfect, ai can be improved, which in obviously will with next gen hardware. I'd hear of complaints before about how power it was on last gen, it could be, but was never game changing. I'm not an expert on hardware, but with last gens 512mb ram possibly have been a reason for limitations on ai and other features, theirs only so much you can do on 9 year old hardware. Their where always gonna be features that get canceled to make way for new, each year their has been improvements to more player faces ( hazard only had his face last year even), how to play has changed with the new defending layout, ( they kept legacy for old players, but if your still playing with them your just limiting your experience), the mini games have been added, which has been a really good improvement to increase skill and to test how good you are, shots have improved, dribbling has allot ( try playing fifa 12 now, it'll feel like a ps2 game the way dribbling feels so cardboardy,) bad features have gone like fifa 11 or 12s shielding button, remember how op drogba was in that game, wasmt much skill to that.

The argument about how scripted it is, is wrong, I'll admit I used to think that as well. But then I was just honest with myself, things you have to keep into consideration is that, ( especially) if you are winning by a small margin, you will get a bit panicky with your play, also stamina plays a part in a match, makes subs, change your formations ( easy to do if you use the tactics d pad) to boost your chance of winning, th other player on the losing side is gonna be more desperate to score, so may attempt ambitious long shots, and be braver with their play near the end of a match, and their much more direct than they probably have during that start of the game. All of the factors contribute to why their are usually late goals scored near the end.

Of course improvements can be made, more animations makes it much better, collision detection should improve, this should help to improve things like penalty decisions then, a better career mode, I feel that career mode is more catered to kids which is the wrong idea, maybe an online career mode, where each player manages one team in a league, and they can transfer with each other, things like that, and with all of these servers now available for gaming these days, my idea could expand, instead of just limiting players playing against each other in one league, why not open up all leagues clubs managed by an individual player, they can compete together, transfer players, loan, etc, I guess it would be a fusion of career mode and ultimate team.

But yeh fifa isn't the same game each year, I'm afraid as gamers we just get tired of franchises after a few editions, and make lazy accusations towards games because they just have another number or year attached to their name.

Animation still look robotic. And the small delay between a player movement and the ball responding is still there.

From this video i see that crowd finally looks decent and not like carton boxes. I play Fifa (and only Fifa) since 96 and I cant hide disappointment when the final version for differs so much from consoles - and given teasers ...last few years. Now I want ..players sweating, diving, hand ball (not heavily scripted ones), more controlled power sliding and shoots, easier to control (and more understandable) PENALTIES and free kicks and ingame heavy injuries.. and a lot less scripting for AI tactics. And yeah, more visual options for graphics and not the same ones for every year. Add tesselation, txaa, motion blur, moving grass, proper weather conditions ...please. :D

Watched this with high expectations. Ended up looking like shit. Looks so dated. They need to step it up. NBA 2k14 is an example on how to do it.

Will there be in-game currency? Because I want to be able to bribe refs to help my team win a match. Happens in real life in every World Cup.

I bought fifa 11. and get this small updates along with the squad updates for free. not gonna pay again till they really improve something.

@RobDev Screw working on the AI, lets just keep scripting in that makes the game hard right... yeah??

Now we can focus on what the football fans want, emotion (getting angry because of scripting), looking prettier and increased prices in FUT because parents love having their kid borrow their credit card to pay for something that already is in the game.

@warhawk-geeby 3) bring back the proper player manager mode.

4) i've never scored or seen a deflected goal in FIFA 14 in hundreds of hours playing

@warhawk-geeby i wouldnt want a player scoring an offside goal and i know its as u say pixel perfect but thats how it must be... u must use your skill and timing to break the offside trap.... the create kit would be cool though...

@johncn23 if they didn't pump a game out every year to make money then they could make each iteration more noticeably different. i update every second year as the one time i went back to back it was like paying $60 for an update of the team players.

@johncn23 If you are a big football fan and play fifa a lot then it might be worth the purchase every year but for casual fans shelling out $60 every year for features that might not be noticed it  just isn't worth it.  I usually buy fifa every year and I notice the differences but I have a friend that doesn't follow that closely who says the games seem the same to him and he'd rather buy it every two years

warriors30
warriors30

@johncn23 I can understand his disappointment but that's just how EA rolls. Same can be said about other sports games too, there's only so much you can change every year. That's why I usually skip two years before I buy a new FIFA.

But my advice to rmartinezdl is, go and buy FIFA 15. Trust me, coming from FIFA 11 it'll be worth your money, definitely.

Ayato_Kamina_1
Ayato_Kamina_1

@warriors30 @johncn23 Well I bought fifa 14 and was massively disappointed. I'd heard from people that it plays like a different game on next gen but I'm not ready to step up for that. Maybe when fifa 15 rolls around I'll buy a PS4... but I've been disappointed with recent fifas so I'll probably play it in store first.
