FIFA 11 for Wii scores street mode

Nintendo console version getting exclusive street option; 5 v. 5 mode lets footie fans play as pros on indoor and outdoor courts around the world.

Even though the 2010 World Cup has ended and Spain has been crowned champion, footie fans have the next round of EA Sports' annualized soccer simulator to look forward to. Although the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be presented with superior visuals, Wii fans who pick up the game will score an exclusive street game mode.

This year's FIFA for the Wii takes it to the streets.

According to EA Sports, FIFA 11 for the Wii will include a street mode, in which players will be able to dress as their favorite professionals and travel the globe playing a lighter style of footy along the way. EA says each soccer god will have his own unique abilities in street mode to use on indoor courts where players can bank shots and passes off the wall to their advantage.

Additionally, EA says those who elect to play in this arcade style will be able to "build up and then activate your power meter to blast shots, ignite a speed burst or send shockwaves over your opponents." Further, the world-famous players will dress in appropriately named street wear in the street mode.

EA Sports has confirmed that players will be able to play the street game modes on the avenues of France, Brazil, and the UK. Further, each location will sport a culturally specific soundtrack, though Electronic Arts has not confirmed any artists.

Street mode will have three distinct game types available: First to Score, Tug of War, and Timed. And finally, the street mode will feature a variety of goals aimed at testing players' strength and accuracy. Gamers can expect elevated nets where players will need to accurately loft the ball to score, wall goals, and mini nets to test accuracy.

FIFA 11 is due out on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 this fall.

after the 09 version, EA has royally f***ed Wii owners, I loved 09 but when i bought 10 i was like WTF is this...?!? And to those saying Wii can't handle it... do you own a Wii? 09 was great plus look at MP3, Twilight Princess, SMG2. EA is just being lazy.

Oh man, they could`ve added this mode too at least to the PSP version since the overall performance is similar to the Wii.

My Wii just collects dust unless my fiancee is playing Animal Crossing (once a week for maybe 30 minutes...maybe). For multi-platform games I definitely go with one of the two next-gen consoles.

@Sk8rlink so you say,all have traded the wii for an hd console....and that your wii is collecting dust ..........so you have your wii dont you????

The Wii may get this, but lets face it - any multi-plat owners out there who like Fifa will be buying it on a HD source. This extra will only benefit Wii-only owners who have no choice but to buy that format anyway... it's not like this little extra mode will entice any multi-plat players to give up their HD goodness, no sirree.

I'd have been more interested to see a better career mode for a user-created player OR an option to make the game more enjoyable (no out of bounds, no offsides, no penalties/fouls) for those who get bored with the simulation of the regular game. Oy, that was a long sentence. I have a PS3 and would rather see any arcade modes given to that. EA is dumbing down the Wii version because it believes the only people who want to have "arcade-style" fun are Wii owners. I do have a Wii as well, but I'll still opt for the PS3 version if I do get FIFA 11, but come on EA, allow us to turn off the "Zzzzzz" rules on every console version and then everyone can have fun (and those who don't mind the offsides rules or penalties can still have them on by default).

they always try and make any wii news favour the wii. ever thought that the wii cant handle 22 AI at a respectable level and produce their individual animations? @ sockmonkey12678 ps3/360 has way better hardcore games than 'tron' and their so advanced that they cant even be made into a downgraded version for the wii.

@JJnyg24, EA tried its called the FIFA street series and they sucked.

Why can't EA make a decent stand-alone arcade style soccer game? They have the rights to NBA JAM and seem to be doing the series justice with the upcoming new version of that game, why can't they make a simple enjoyable soccer game in the vein of the oldschool Midway sports games like Blitz and Jam? A game similar to Mario Strikers Charged with official FIFA licensing would be insane

Man, why can't they incorporate an indoor soccer mode for the 360 and PS3 counterparts of Fifa 11 but real indoor, not like Fifa Street.

Well. that's what you get with the Wii....lol I think anyone who actually plays videogames more than 3 hours a week has already either traded in their Wii for a 360 or PS3 or if they can afford bought off another and their Wii is collecting dust when there aren't buddies over to play super smash Brawl...I know that's my scenario

@m64: Cause everyone thinks that only 8 year olds play the Wii. Which is clearly not true. Compare Tron (Wii) to its X-Box 360 and PS3 counterparts. Sheesh.
