2K Sports today announced that two Wimbledon champions will be gracing the cover of its upcoming tennis game for the PlayStation 2, Top Spin. Three-time Wimbledon Gentlemen's Singles champion Roger Federer and 2004 Ladies' Singles champion Maria Sharapova have been revealed as the game's spokespersons.

23-year-old Roger Federer of Switzerland has won the last three Wimbledon tournaments and is quickly becoming the dominant force on the men's tour. The current number one player in the world, Federer nearly won the tennis grand slam last year, needing only the French Open to have made history.

On the ladies' side, Russian Maria Sharapova became the face of women's tennis when she won the 2004 Wimbledon Ladies' Singles title. The 18-year-old model/athlete is presently the number two ranked player on the women's tour and is the current media darling of the sport.

"Being on the cover of the top tennis game in the world is something I'm very proud of," said the bubbly, blonde Sharapova. "Now, everyone gets a shot to play against me. But look out, I'm bringing my 'A' game in Top Spin!"

Top Spin is the PS2 port of the well-praised Xbox original, which was released in 2003. The PS2 version will feature Federer, Sharapova, Lleyton Hewitt, Venus Williams, and 12 others as playable characters, in addition to offering online play. Look for Top Spin, currently in development by Parisian studio Power and Magic Development, in September of this year.
