Development on the Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R. has wrapped up, according to publisher Sierra Entertainment. The game, which is a port of the successful PC first-person shooter (and was voted GameSpot's Best Shooter of 2005), will ship next week on October 31.
In the game, players suit up as a special operative investigating paranormal happenings at a research facility. The console version will include new levels, an instant action mode, and multiplayer support for up to 16 players. The game's demo is currently available for free on Xbox Live Marketplace.
F.E.A.R. for the Xbox 360 is rated M for Mature and will retail for $59.99. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage or review of the PC version. A PlayStation 3 edition is also currently in development and is scheduled to ship with the console's launch.
T-renz- Internet and Porn are for PCs but so are shooters and RTS and online game because RTS and most shooters and online game on consle generally suck because of the controls. Might as well get it for my PC to play. But thats my opinion. Heck I'll just get F.E.A.R for PC I got a powerful enough computer and there is an intresting Director's edition.
I might get the ps3 version, but I would want all if I could afford it
yeah, someone try playing ninja gaiden on a pc please, then explain how easy it is to use a mouse and keyboard. Also, even if you bought the game for less then 60 bucks, you spent a hell of a lot more on your computer to make it diesal enough to run F.E.A.R. Pc's are ment for porn and internet, not intense gaming, go cry to your mothers please.
HDTV ,5.1 Home Cinema, Weekend, cold Beers, comfortable seating, playing a great FPS with a mate = BLISS ! If you want to sit in a dark room on your own at a PC playing then thats OK, ITS PERSONAL CHOICE. However, I cannot stand pathetic, insecure bores that put down console gaming. I love console gaming, its comfortable its fun and most of all its not bordering on being obsessively bias and peerless. Choose your own personal preference, maybe even both folks but don't ridicule another persons choice for your own ridiculous and blinkered views !!!
The average Xbox 360 user has a 5.1 surround sound system, a big-screen TV, and a comfortable couch? You act as if every 360 user has the exact same setup as you.
sweet!
Problem? I don't think it's a problem sitting at a desk playing about 2 feet away from a monitor. Just like you don't think it's a problem sitting about 8 feet away because any closer and the image quality degrades on your "60 TV.
"So where would "most people" want to play FEAR?" Wherever they feel comfortable of course. You act as if playing on a PC is painstakingly hard to do, WTF do you have scoliosis? Nope, not hard but not nearly as comfortable as my 360. I understand if you need to be real close to the screen to see, and I won't fault your choice of the PC if that's what the problem is.

Now unless your playing on a screen that big and have that kind of couch to use, then your probably not having as good of a time as I am. I'm also playing with my friends on Xbox Live using my headset, soon to be a wireless headset. So tell me again how FEAR is better in a room looking at a small screen, listening to small computer speakers, sitting in a computer chair is better then my set up. "I love how you assume everyone plays on a tiny screen, with tiny speakers on a computer chair." I'm not assuming anything, most people do. "Guess what, you can play PC games on big HDTVs too. And you can get 7.1 surround sound systems for PCs, also. And the argument about the PC chair is just retarded. You can get a wireless keyboard and mouse, and play on a couch if you want." Your argument nullifies the "I only paid $500 for my PC and it runs FEAR" argument. If you look at the average 360 user most have a bigger screen, a better sound system and a more comfortable sitting arragement then they do around they're PC's. Right? So where would "most people" want to play FEAR?
I'm not sure if mouse and keyboard vs. a controller is a valid argument anymore, nor is the large hi-def television vs. small monitor. You can buy a mouse and keyboard for any current console and a controller for a computer. Also, a lot of hi-def televisions come with VGA inputs and most newer video cards come with a component hi-def output. The only thing I'm curious about is if the extra content for the 360 version will be available for the PC version sometime in the future.

This game is by far one of the best FPSs on the PC. The particle effects, A.I., and physics engine are sick! I wonder what exclusive content Vivendi is talking about for the PS3 version?
Man I'm going on vacation so no games for me till December :o( I can't wait to get this one it's freakin awesome! Any game that plays well and scares the crap out of me is ok in my book!
Oh, it had to be released on Halloween didn't it? Hehehe
sweet i cant wait!
I'm pretty psyched to get to play this game now since I'm not a PC gamer.
yeah keyboard and mouse are great but controller is just more comfortable and enjoyable. and i always hated having to upgrade your systemwhen ever a great game comes out
I love how you assume everyone plays on a tiny screen, with tiny speakers on a computer chair. Guess what, you can play PC games on big HDTVs too. "...the PC version looks better and plays better. I could go out and buy a better version for way less than $60. I might pass on this game." How can you say this since the 360 version isn't even out? The demo doesn't count since it's not an accurate representation of what the final retail version will be like.
REVENGEotSITH true not to mention additional content they add for system launch. Now with the new councils power maybe even better graphics.
whoever said PCs are not for gaming is pretty stupid, an even dumber statement is that a mouse and keyboard is inferior to a control pad, that's just the dumbest thing I've heard in a while and for sure that person must suck at FPS on the PC.
I love how anytime a PC game is brought over to a console, all the hermits come in here and say how much better PC gaming is than consoles and how the game is going to suck because its on a console. A lot of us prefer playing on our consoles over PCs - deal with it. The lack of precision or controls provided by using a keyboard are far outweighed by the things that a console brings - standardized setup (thus, games optimized for that system), larger displays, better sound, preferred setting (on couch vs desk), and cost.
plus i heard the xbox360 version was visually superior to PC
i might buy it
I love my 360, but I'm not sure it's worth $60 since the PC version looks better and plays better. I could go out and buy a better version for way less than $60. I might pass on this game.
been there done that on PC
Uh, October 31... Should i buy this game for my 360 of feed my PS2 with FFXII???? F.E.A.R. .... FFXII ... F.E.A.R. .... FFXII ... F.E.A.R. .... FFXII better i will put my money on FF ^^ and let F.E.A.R for the next month on the PS3 ^^
I never got into PC gaming. Having to upgrade so much annoys the hell out of me. Though I respect those who enjoy it. I have liked the look of FEAR for a long time. And the XBL demo conformed my hopes for it. Will pick it up for sure.
My comfortable chair>Your loveseat My Keyboard and Mouse>Your control pad My 7.1 surround/or Headphones>Your 5.1 surround My 19" 2ms LCD> Your 60" DLP with rainbow effect And for you idiots that think VOIP was established on consoles, get a ****ing clue.

Well, I have to agree, I have never caught on to PC gaming. I enjoy consoles a lot more because games do not lag, quality settings don't have to be compromised, a controller just feels more comfortable and intuitive to me than a mouse and KB, and I'm more comfortable on my couch. PC gaming is just not as enjoyable, and I definitely would pick up a console version of FEAR over the PC one. RTS games are the only ones that really require a PC.
whoever thinks mouse and keyboard games are silly is simply a fool... T-Renz for example. PC gaming is awesome and it has its place in the ranks of games that must be played a certain way, say First Person Shooters or Real Time Strategy. I've always like them more on the PC simply cause the control you have can't be compared to a controller. Yet there is still that soft spot I have for being able to take a seat on the couch with controller in hand and tweak out on whatever shooter I can get my hands on... the feeling is geunine no doubt. I never had a chance to really sit down with FEAR on the PC so I'm definently looking foward to this title in the coming weeks.
What I want to know is why do PC players of these PC ports continue to come into a thread about a game that is coming out for a console and tell everyone that it sucks on that console? The only game "I" need to play on a PC is an RTS that's the only game I can't enjoy more on a console then I do on a PC. I have a 60" HDTV, 5.1 SS and a very comfortable leather couch to lay or sit on. Now unless your playing on a screen that big and have that kind of couch to use, then your probably not having as good of a time as I am. I'm also playing with my friends on Xbox Live using my headset, soon to be a wireless headset. I laugh at your ignorance.
Yeah comments are like buttholes, everybody has got one!
Yes, I am definitely going to be getting this the day it comes out. Can't wait.
"Its another port" "Its on the PC" well thanks Captain Obvious now go over to the PS3 forum and point out that most of those games are just ports too...you might be surprised to know that not everyone has a PC OR this game. If you don't want it don't buy it. Thank you and have a nice day. Oh and this game is good...in case you needed a complete stranger who you have no idea if I even have a 360 or ever played this game to tell you. You gotta love the "Add a Comment" section!

Ok, here is the deal. They release console ports of PC games strictly because A MAJORITY OF GAMERS PLAY ON CONSOLES. I myself could play F.E.A.R on a PC, but I choose not too. Way too many reasons why to list. So before you say, "Why are they releasing such and such when its been on PC?", thats why. Also, not many people bought F.E.A.R on PC, and the developers want to actually sell their game.
i cant wait for this game had it pre-ordered for months, i wish i could of bought it for pc last year but it will not run so now i have my chance to enjoy this game i have a good pc with high specs but no graphics card, i know there is plenty of cheaper cards out there now but i would rather buy a top of the range one i will some day when the console games slow down next year but i prefer to play games on console except football manager, i dont know why pc fans always say its much better on pc and cheaper it more than likely is but allot of people just dont have the pc to run it or dont like pc gaming so to people like me its better on the console its really just a personal preference and both sides are right and we all win.and this game looks lovely on 32" hd the same display i use for my pc
Who cares about PC gamers? This is for the 360 and I am pumped!!!
oh and before someone says another "pc is teh expensive" comment. My PC cost $650.. With LCD monitor.... and I can play FEAR on highest settings on 1240 X 1024 res.... And CO-OP mod is BRILLIANT!
losaltos6 i don't know about you guys but i can run my F.E.A.R game on ultra settings except for a few minor settings and my gaming rig is't that great of expensive, Xbox 360 has technology from today but will it have the the techlonogy six months from now, as PC parts get cheaper the easyer and cheaper parts will be for the PC and xbox 360 quality will be reached at minmum price and the 360 will become obselite and the main focus will be put back onto PC. Well hear are my specs its cost me about 750$ AMD 3700+ 2.2GHz HT 1GB Kingston HyperX PC3200 Nvidia Evga 7600GT 256MB 250GB Sata HDD Soltek Socket 939 18X DVD burner Antec Solo Case 500W Power Supply Zelmen Copper CPU cooler Runs fear on High Setting without a studder. *Clap*.......................*Clap*........................*Clap*.....................
How is the 360 version better?..... Oh and it dosent really matter.... I beat the game ages ago... awesome stuff... Cant wait to play EXTRACTION POINT
It's obvious the Xbox360 version will be superior to the PS3 version.:D
F.E.A.R. was boring as hell, why are they even bothering.
Pointless game port for xbox (again) There is no way it is going to be like the PC.
dukerav Dude! Get a ZBoard ketboard! That will solve your WASD woes!
