F.E.A.R. 3 special edition set to spook Aussie retailers

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin was one of the poster games for the campaign against Australia's outdated classification system after it was banned in late 2008. Thankfully, the ruling was overturned on appeal and the game was cleared for sale bearing the nation's maximum MA15+ rating.

Although F.E.A.R. 3 is yet to pass through the Australian Classification Board, it hasn't stopped Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's (WBIE) local arm from announcing plans to release a special edition of the game in Australia when it is released in May. Like other regions, the Aussie collector's edition includes a 7-inch pregnant Alma collectible figure, a steel case, a F.E.A.R. 3 comic book, and an exclusive in-game weapon--the Hammer. WBIE has not announced an official price for the bundle, but EB Games Australia is currently offering preorders of the pack for A$108 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and A$98 on the PC.

F.E.A.R. 3 takes place shortly after the events of the first and second games and introduces a story told through a cooperative experience. One player will take on the role of the once-deceased Paxton Fettel, while the other plays as Point Man from the first game. The two will battle it out in the destroyed city of Fairport to decide what will become of the twisted family.
