Fargo Season 3 Adds All of These Actors

FX's hit drama Fargo has added more actors for Season 3. As reported by Variety, newly added cast members for Season 3 include David Thewlis (Harry Potter series), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man), and comedian Jim Gaffigan. Scott McNairy, Karan Soni, Fred Melamed, and Thomas Mann have also come aboard for the next season of the show inspired by the Coen Brothers cult-classic movie.

The new additions follow previously confirmed Season 3 newcomers such as Ewan McGregor, Carrie Coon, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Here's a breakdown of what we know about the Fargo Season 3 actors and the characters they play, with descriptions from Variety:

McGregor -- He plays two characters: brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. "Emmit, described as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, sees himself as an American success story, whereas Ray is more of a cautionary tale. Their sibling rivalry leads to a twisted path that begins with petty theft, but soon leads to murder, mobsters, and cut-throat competitive bridge."

• Thewlis -- He plays V.M. Vargas, described as a "mysterious loner and true capitalist."
• Coon -- She plays Gloria Burgle, a police chief and a newly divorced mother.
• Winstead -- She plays Ray's girlfriend, Nikki Swango.
• Stuhlbarg -- He plays Sy Feltz, the righthand man to Emmit.
• Gaffigan -- He plays Gloria's deputy at the police department, Donny Mashman.
• McNairy -- He plays Maurice Lefay, described as a "stone with a criminal past.
• Soni -- He plays the scientist Dr. Homer Gilruth.
• Melamed -- He plays Howard Zimmerman, "a mover and shaker with a knack for spinning yarn and making a profit."
• Mann -- He plays Thaddeus Mobley, a sci-fi author.

Fargo Season 3 begins its shoot in Calgary in January. The season is scheduled to premiere in 2017.
