Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in the works?

Brazilian classification ratings board reveals new first-person shooter may be coming to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

There may be more Far Cry 3 in the works. The Brazilian classification ratings group (via Joystiq) has posted a listing for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, describing the project as a first-person shooter for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

No further information is available and a Ubisoft representative was not immediately available to comment. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in February that "fans certainly won't have to wait for more years for the next Far Cry."

Far Cry 3 lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem told Joystiq this week that the action-shooter is getting some sort of a continuation, though it's not clear if Blood Dragon is this rumored content.

"I'm working on something now that will be surprising, I think, when it's announced," Yohalem said. "But it definitely is a 'strike while the iron's hot' thing, and we'll see."

Far Cry 3 has shipped 4.5 million copies to date. For more, check out GameSpot's review.

There should be an option where you can turn off that damn x-ray vision.

i think FC2 was way better, much more dense jungle and there's always that tense feeling of urgency and danger. Think FC3 is a good game, no doubt, but is way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty.

i would love to play more Far Cry 3, it's the best FPS game on 2012! Please consider my wish for a prequel where the main character is Vaaz.

It would be good to have an extra island for more missions or play as the bad guys and see their victory endings etc. I'd love this game to go on, its earned my respect in many ways

"it's definitely a strike while the iron is hot thing"...  Well... I suppose I appreciate the honesty, there, guy.

I am not interested in any DLC that doesn't add Dinosaurs or monsters to the game. I am sick of killing mercs and pirates.

You gotta do what you gotta do, war isn't pretty, and it's about time entertainment caught up with real life. There are mature ratings for reasons, make a new one if they have to.

Hopefully a Vaas origin story, SPOILER

Guess it would be uglier than the ending when Jason killed his friends.

This game is big enough to tolerate more vehicles, which it needs.  I say an armed helicopter and an armed combat vehicle like a BMP1 APC.   Ofcourse the enemy will have them too so you can go toe to toe.  How about adding that Napalm air strike from multiplayer to the campaign?  The code already exist so not so hard to implement, and like I said, the world is big enough for this.  BTW,  add a bridge to join the islands, driving is huge fun and joining the islands would mean great driving expeditions across.

I'm wondering if it will be DLC.

I hope it's some kind of expansion and not a full new game, too soon for that.

Blood Dragon...hmm sounds like a prehistoric reptile. For blood dragon to be great, it needs to have  Deinonychus, Spinosaurus, and T rex(remember the gaurds saying"at least this ain that island with those fu***** dinosaurs on it"). I hope this game has side missions where you hunt rare Spinosaurus, Megaladon sharks, giant crocs, and giant anaconda snakes. Add in some ancient underground lizard people and this will be the best expansion ever made. Anyone else notice the island in Farcry 3, southwest on the on the map that you can't reach and its blocked out on the map? That has got to be the Dino island.

Add a flying vehicle the player can use, like that chopper Hoyt uses. The world is huge and beautiful and flying from one island to another or just over the whole world would great, which can't be done with the glider because it constantly drops.

The single player for this game was nothing short of amazing, but for me once it was over it was over... i can't wait for master difficulty and outpost resets so I can keep playing in that sandbox how I want.  The coop and multiplayer though were really lame, I never played either for more than a couple hours wanting it to be better.  Bring open world coop, and I'm in for a new far cry, leave it out and I don't care how good the SP is, I'll be renting it at best.

Just traded in Aliens Colonial Marines for FarCry3 and playing through it now, best swap ever!... wow... definition of insanity... fantastic game.  Was playing through 'Kicking Through The Hornets Nest' level the other night and can honestly say it was one of the highlights in gaming history for me.  What a great level, I would have loved to have played it again to show off to the the guys 'ma skills' but in the PS3 version I cant seem to level select... is that the same for all versions?  Anyway looking forward to the next instalment with level select hopefully on the PS3 platform.

If they add new skills, new weapons, new enemies, new wildlife and new places to explore then I will absolutely buy it.

I hope Blood Dragon is some type of dinosaur.

@Venatorcruiser Maybe they've learnt the difference between killing animals in real life and killing them on a TV/PC screen.

@Felcz you can turn off the x ray vision, just dont use the binocular scope and there wont be an X ray.

Dredcrumb9

@Felcz farcry 2 would of been better if it had some crocs and hippos in the rivers and swamps. farcry 2 had alot going for it, but it seems they saved the best stuff for the crappy farcry 3.

jjmonster2006
jjmonster2006

@Felcz I agree. Maybe not so much in the single player because going around everything was too repetitive and punishing, but the multiplayer always gave me the adrenaline rush. i don't really ever care if I lose the multiplayer in FC3.

@X-Robert Hmm... You don't necessarily had to kill them. The game gives you the option to choose not to kill them.

jagcivtec

@toshineon agree, the game can be expanded upon dramatically without the need for a full sequel.

@Sideshow_me What's wrong with a yearly addition if the game is fun? The market is stagnant with garbage right now and these titles are appreciated.

Celiria_Rose

@Dredcrumb9  no its the co op and multiplayer islands. The co op campaign and multiplayer each got their own islands which were not available in the single player campaign.

@wexorian How is it overhyped? It really is a good game. You should try it.

Celiria_Rose
Celiria_Rose

@wexorian low selling? It sold over 4.5 million copies. And it takes a bit more than one expansion to count as milking.

Dredcrumb9

@Hortey the single player was story bad. the gunplay was great and everything else was awesome, but the story and lame personalities of the game, made the campaign lame. the good gameplay and free roaming save this game a little.

jagcivtec

@Venatorcruiser @jagcivtec I hear you, but I'm guilty of loving tanks and knowing an M1A2 or similar MBT isn't going to happen I went with the more accessible and common rebel APC that could realistically be introduced into the game.  Or maybe a Sherman since there is WW2 equipment on the island.

rad8045
rad8045

@Kiyosuyo because it kills the game in the long run making it a saturated series like Asassins creed and call of duty. No true fan of video games want to play the same shit every year with a few little add ons. They want something new and fresh .I use to love call of duty now I can't stand the sight of it.

Dredcrumb9

@Venatorcruiser @Dredcrumb9Liopleurodon and  Mosasaurswould make a very nice easter egg to find in the ocean. I was sad Farcry 3 didnt have it from the start.

jagcivtec
jagcivtec

@Venatorcruiser Yeah but remember games are all about the suspension of disbelief, and the way Brody transitions from Bachelor to Warrior is enough to put him in an AH-64 longbow next,  but I agree, some narco homemade tank fits better.  But since there's WW2 equipment around Rooke maybe an old rehabilitated tank could be plausible.

jagcivtec
jagcivtec

@Venatorcruiser @jagcivtec Yes, but the BMP is also an APC, an amphibious APC, but if I picked it when I say I love tanks is because it's the closest thing to a tank that can be realistically introduced into the game's setting.  It has armor, runs on tracks and has a decent main gun, see my point.

Dredcrumb9
Dredcrumb9

@jadeinshades @Venatorcruiser @hyp3rknight why would it be a Jurassic park reference? JP has nothing to do with the Farcry games. When the privateer says "At least this ain't that island with those f****** Dinosaurs on it" he is referring to  an island in the Farcry universe with dinosaurs on it.
