Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon garrison reset patch released

Ubisoft launches new garrison reset option for spinoff on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC; allows players to conquer garrisons again.

by

Ubisoft today launched a new patch for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon that allows players to reset conquered garrisons to battle through the challenges for a second time.

The patch is live today for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

"Based on the success of Far Cry 3's Outpost reset patch, this similar patch will give players another reason to revisit the year 2007 and re-take the garrisons once more," Ubisoft said.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a spinoff to last year's Far Cry 3. The $15 game launched in May and has sold over 500,000 copies to date.

Now all that's left is for them to release a patch that gives HUD options, it's hard to believe that such a successful game as Far Cry 3 and it's stand alone Blood Dragon, gives us virtually NO UI options. The only main problem I have with Blood dragon is every time you're taking over a garrison huge white letters say GARRISON OBJECTIVE SECURE AREA FROM HOSTILES. That and the minmap(a whole different problem for Far Cry 3 that should be removeable) take up basically the whole left side of the screen, I know that Blood Dragon isn't about being immersed in gameplay, but I'd at least like to see the damn screen when I'm playing. Otherwise I completely enjoyed this game.

How do I apply the patch?, I mean, I have liberated all the garrisons already, What should I do now?

Had no idea they did this for the base game, might give me the motivation to go back and get all the collectibles, was kinda boring with no obstacles

I can see this as some sort of entertaiment but as far as i'm concerned, the first garrison takedown (coming from the dragoncave) was the only challenging garrison takedown. Rest of the garrison takedowns were just kinda boring and un-challenging eventhough i played on Hard. But i really liked FC: Blood Dragon for the good campaign.

It's so far the best game of 2013.. until RotT remake comes.

Most fun I've had with a game in a long time, glad I have a reason to replay it now!

Sweet. That was my favourite part - trying to take out garrisons with stealth kills and no detection. Wasn't quite successful on all of 'em.

Yes thank you, replay-ability ftw.

Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3:Blood Dragon are the best shooters this generation...

Can't wait for Far Cry 4!!!

How ironic, after players bitch about respawning garrisons in Far Cry 2, Ubi releases a patch that does exactly that due to player outcry.

Is this a cheaper alternative to making a sequel?

Hmm. Does this mean I can finally find that one enemy I haven't yet shot in the head? I can't find him!

@Aquiles-Boy Did you get the update? If so, I believe there is an option, in the options, to reset garrisons.

@eBentl trust for 15 bucks the game is fun. it may be annoying to play the game through neon colors but still the game packs a punch. It take around 3-4 hours to fully finish the game.

@Karl_Hummer

I don't hate Blood Dragon (really liked it) but the best generation shooter award goes to Hard Reset because it was original due to the theme it was set in (Cyberpunk) and gameplay said the f word for CoD and every other MMS.

@gosushi They add something much needed in a patch and yet you criticise it? Would you rather them DLC it?

sensesfail99

@gosushi they are making a sequel. They did this to give it a bit of replay value. I think its great, did they do this with Far Cry 3 itself too is what im wondering now?

@Strider8009 You bought Far Cry 3 for the MP? Wow...

I really am baffled, it's like buying F.E.A.R. for the MP. There's nothing wrong with enjoying it when it's there, but you're missing the entire point of the game.

@Dudeman315 @wavelength121 Forced updates and changes is never good, but patches, just like mods gives you the option to add something or not. That's why I love mods and patches like these.

@eddieham13@gosushi Idiots.....It was merely a harmless joke. I'm well aware there is a sequel on the way and I wasn't criticizing anyone, although now you mention it, I would prefer DLC over a patch since I have all the achievements and have no urge to play the game anymore.

@Karl_Hummer @Emerald_Scott Hard to tell. I haven't played enough shooters to give a fair opinion. However, I admit that I enjoyed the gameplay of both games. In FC3, I loved the gameplay but didn't like the story.

Anyway, my point is that it's all relative, so there can fairly be no "best ___ ever." I consider MGS4 a masterpiece but I certainly wouldn't call it the best game ever. Perhaps one of the best.

@Strider8009 @toshineon Actually, he's more of a fan than you are. MP in Far Cry has always been secondary to the single-player. Always. You really have missed the point. Or did you think all those jungles and guns and vehicles just apparated into space without purpose or context?

toshineon
toshineon

@Strider8009 @toshineon Sure, I totally get it now. Ubisoft made this large open world and worked on creating characters and gameplay just so that you don't experience or play it, brilliant. You know what? Who the fuck are you to tell me what I'm a fan of and not? You can go fuck yourself.
