Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon's director hopes to turn the game into a franchise.

It was awesome and all, but I don't want Blood Dragon 2 to become the replacement for far cry 4.  I like my tropical nightmare vacation settings.

This was a enjoyable 10 hours for me. All the references to pop culture of the 1980 and early 90s made me laugh. I would like to see them do something like along the lines of Escape From New York.

Make it a full-length retail title and name it Far Cry 4. I pray that this becomes a series.

This game was fun! I hope they do a sequel or at least some kind of expansions.

Nice! I must get! It would be my best and 1st Indie title and I needed another Far Cry

establishing as a franchise is a good and laudable idea!hope the sequels can live up to the bar set by the first!

Need more games like this. Retro is in. So much cheesy 80's themes to plunder from!

I hope it does, this is exactly what the industry needs. fun games that are fun for the sake of being fun that don't take themselves to seriously.

Not too soon, though -- let it stew for awhile.

whooooot- I love this game, and I love the idea of turning it into an independent title.  Unlike a lot of folks on here, I love the neon coloring and over-saturated environments.  It reminded me heavily of "Running Man".  I say go all-out 80's on this mug, and include as many tropes from action/sci-fi as possible :)

make the next game like farcry 3 or 2 but with dinosaurs. No more post apocalyptic settings,  we want lush green jungles with human mercs, t rexes, raptors, and spinosaurus(and maybe secret Aliens). Blood dragon had too many annoying rave colors and the jungle was all dead and depressing.

I like the game, but I don't like the over-abundance of pastels everywhere. They definitely over did it, especially with the sky. Being that the sky is darker than a normal outdoor setting, it always feels like it's over-cast... or evening, when the sun just went down. It makes for a more depressing mood while playing the game. This isn't a conscious thought either. It's just something I noticed after playing; that I felt more bummed and tired. Where as when I play the regular Far Cry 3 game I feel more lively and up-beat... more up awake.

I guess because I immerse myself in the game so much that I'm subconsciously affected by the in-game environment. It only happens with outdoor games though. I feel better if I'm running around, committing mass murder, on a nice sunny day  ;^)

Hell yeah! Make the next one a full sized game with co-op and multiplayer and all of the hilarious humor from the first one and I'll gladly pay full price for it!

Yes!!!

I'm loving the recent influx of retro-80's-b-movie-baddassery lately (anyone else see the movie Manborg that just came out? Awesomesauce). My only complaint with Blood Dragon was the drab environments when there weren't neon lights, thanks to using the tropical island setting from Far Cry 3 but applying the apocolyptic-future-grim-color scheme. I'd love to see a city-based environment (or at least a chunk of one) in a sequel.

Also, this has totally redeemed Michael Biehn for his involvement in Aliens: Colonial Marines *shudders*. They guy's still a badass!

Does not work. "Save Game" is not active and not clickable.

I haven't bought this yet, money being tight, and I feel like I'd get more mileage out of it if I buy it on a Steam Sale, but...

The demo was very entertaining.  it felt like Duke Nukem, in the good classic comedy way that Duke Nukem Forever should have been.

I'd love to see a AAA budgeted full priced version with FC3 levels of content but with better side missions. Also a sweet co-op experience would be nice, having a friend play as a tech-zombie of Spider, mowing down hundreds of dudes alongside Sgt. Rex Colt, fighting Aliens, Dinosaurs, Zombies, Mutants, Robots, Demons, and last but not least, F***ING Godzilla!

Personally I'm sick of Modern Shooters, and while the Sci-Fi shooter Genres had been done to death, I think it's time it came back. Thats what I thought Halo was, but it's really not all that futuristic, or techy when you look back on it, and I'm talking in game, not lore wise.

Why not? It seems like a very enjoyable game, where realism and serious/grimdark settings takes a back seat to creating crazy fun. There are not many good games like that, except for Serious Sam and Saint's Row.

dont you guys think it would be better if they made a prequel for far cry 3. to witness the transformation of Vaas from good guy to bad?

Oh come on @Pyrosa it was only an 8 hour or so adventure.  I want more now.

@Dredcrumb9

I do like the idea and all, but let that be seen in Jurassic Life. Jurassic Life is a high quality mod inmaking for Half-Life 2 about Jurassic Park.

Keep Blood Drgaon with it's colors, because if you would put all of 2013's FPS' in line, Blood Dragon would stand out from the rest of them, due to it's super colorful world and 80's future theme.

@JLCrogue I rather liked that it was cheap and something I could enjoy and complete before it got stale.  If it had been pricier than that would have been bitter, but it was a cheap enjoyable snack.

Too many games are intentionally stretched out and repeated mechanics can become tiresome before reaching the end, would hate to see that here.

@JLCrogue

Like the co-op idea, but no co-op thank you.

Singleplayer game needs to stay singleplayer. Something that is very rare nowadays.

Hurvl

@TheSkyrimStatue Or perhaps Far Cry 4: Plasma Dragon, as in blood plasma but also like in really hot stuff, where you have the dragons spit plasma balls, which may create splash damage.

@sgt_F79

 "this was suppose to be a joke or something like that"

 Yes, a parody/joke about 80's action movies and all, but it also made some serious statements about the state of modern shooters in our gaming industry.

You cannot come up with a better name for a character than Rex Power Colt.  I want a sequel.  That game was fun as hell.

Loved the part when you ride the Blood Dragon cyborg.

@Nikola-car No way Vaas is way to enjoyable as a bad guy.  Have you watched the hilarious the youtube video of him chasing down the reporter guy?  Best youtube content I've seen.

dussan2

@Nikola-car

Hmm, game about Vaas an ignorant island boy with severe sister issues (I got a nasty incest vibe from the guy), and how he runs around with that aussie tool and his mercs.

Or Rex Power Colt, Mark 4 cyber-commando and all around bad ass, as he kicks ass to 80's synthetic MIDI tunes, and ripping the hearts out of other cyborgs.

 I'm a go with teh Cyber-Commando.  Maybe they can do a prequel dealing wth the Vietnam II war.

LOL, I still laugh at that.  Two vietnam wars, and they nuked Canada.

@slowram @JLCrogue I saw TotalBiscuit's 'WTF Is...?' recently; coincidentally, BD's relative compactness was one of the things he liked about it.  Now, speaking of taking the core mechanics of a 'full-size' game and making a snack version, it occurs to me that the combat mechanics of Sleeping Dogs would be interesting to build a 3D brawler (think Power Stone or Max Anarchy) around.

JLCrogue
JLCrogue

@quakke @JLCrogue The co-op in Far Cry 3 was really awesome (besides the bugs), it had a separate story line and separate characters from the single player and allowed you to level up, unlock weapons, attachments and camos for your guns and use the same classes as in multiplayer. I'm hoping that the next Blood Dragon will have co-op and multiplayer like Far Cry 3.
