Fantasy Sword Hands-On Impressions

We wield TKO's Fantasy Sword briefly at E3.

Comments

Fantasy Sword is an interesting throwback to the days of Zelda and Final Fantasy (part one). A large world to explore and around eight hours of play make this a game to keep an eye out for.

You can select from three character classes: warrior, archer, and mage. World exploration is the typical role-playing game fare, but random enemy attacks are done in real-time action sequences reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda. It seems to have a hefty storyline, so you will spend a lot of time speaking to villagers and reading dialogue between battles.

The graphics are bright and colorful, and the weapons change physical appearance when upgraded. Experience points from battles can be spent upgrading fighting, shooting, or spell power, and reaching certain skill levels within any of the areas will raise your title. For instance, a warrior with increased strength will become a warlord, and a warrior with increased intelligence will become a battle mage.

Overall, this game looks like it will be the hot ticket for fans of the genre.
