Fan-favorite Battlefield 3 maps come to Battlefield 4 next week

Reimagined versions of Operation Metro, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, and Operation Firestorm launching through Second Assault DLC on February 18.

Electronic Arts and DICE today announced that the Battlefield 4 Second Assault expansion will arrive on February 18 first for Battlefield Premium members. It is already available on Xbox One.

The content includes four fan-favorite Battlefield 3 maps "reimagined" using Frostbite 3, including Operation Metro, Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, and Operation Firestorm. All Battlefield 4 players can grab the Second Assault DLC two weeks later on March 4.

A Battlefield 4 Premium membership is $50, though you can buy the Second Assault expansion by itself for $15.

Second Assault is the second of five expansion packs for Battlefield 4. It follows China Rising, and is preceded by upcoming releases Naval Strike (late March), Dragon's Teeth (summer), and Final Stand (summer).

Also included with the Second Assault DLC are new weapons, gadgets, and amphibious vehicles. In addition, February is Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month, so every day you log into the game you'll receive a free Battlepack. The Player Appreciation Month is an attempt from EA/DICE to make good for the serious server issues that plagued the game at launch, which the company defended recently.

You can check out a video for the Battlefield 4 Second Assault DLC below.

You know what DICE/EA?

Do something decent and give the DLC for free after delivering such a shameful product.

Today 7 out of 10 games Crashed and frizzed. Way to go...

By the way, on my 360, again that console that your limited resources, or brains haven't been able to do any fixes at all....

Nothing like old DLC repackaged as new DLC on a new game that plays exactly like the previous installment.
Jesus Christ, this generation of gamers is sickening. You idiots continue to hand them money for the same content, year after year, and then you wonder why EA represents itself as one of the most greedy, egotistical gaming companies on this planet.

STOP giving them your money for the same, tired, recycled content.

Looks like they've added some significantly improved infrastructure destruction... but I'm still not fully convinced.

I love these maps, but why do they charge full price for rehashed maps? Only EA...

Do you guys think premium is worth getting for someone who plays this game a lot?

"Also included with the Second Assault DLC are new weapons, gadgets, and amphibious vehicles" how does that work? if you have one of the DLC guns equipped and get killed and someone without the DLC kills you and walks over your body can they pick up and use the DLC weapon and what about the vehicle's are they only available on the maps from this DLC or do these vehicles magically get added to all maps also WTF is a battle pack i haven't played a battlefield game for a while so i forget most things

Only EA can make you buy the same map 3 times.

Spartan_418

funny how Gulf of Oman was already a "re-imagined" BF2 map in BF3, and is being brought back again for BF4..

it's a recycling of a recycling

Imagine if they released the old BF2 maps again, some people already bought these for BF3 and would probably buy them for a third time for BF4.

They really should be giving this DLC to players for free... I'm not asking for ALL DLC to be free (even though that would be nice) but they should at least be giving THESE maps at no extra charge

Amazing that people are actually stupid enough to buy this. Idiots the lot of you!

I dont understand why everyone is complaining am i the only person on Earth that has had no issues at all with this game? I have had hardly 0 lag and only very minimal rubber band i could count the times it has happened with two hands. The real issue has been with the SP which I have played now 4 times reaching pretty far only to lose all my save data, but i hate SP anyway so it never bothers me that is unacceptable though. MP has been absolutely amazing 1080P 60 Frames 64 player amazing matches every time i play the game I just fall more in love with my PS4!

@yearssomuch  I bought premium to last me for a while. It doesn't bother me to play reimagined versions of maps I enjoyed. I don't plan on going back to BF3 so it just makes it that much easier.

@beuneus12 Remake of a remake haha. I'd love to see Noshar Canals come back just for the TDM. Perfect TDM map imo.

@Gegglington  how is this any different than any other DLC? If you don't want it, don't buy it.

Sl4cka

@marcheegsr Like others have mentioned - if nothing else, from a financial standpoint, premium is ideal as long as you are planning on playing BF4 for a reasonably long time.

themc_7
themc_7

@marcheegsr  yes. Premium just makes sense. It's cheaper than buying the DLCs individually and there's tons of perks like double xp events, premium guns, camos, etc.

themc_7
themc_7

@tom2750  whether you get the DLC or not, there will be an update. That update will have all the guns and camos etc. So when you come across a guy who has the DLC and the DLC gun, you can pick it up too.

anaplussetup
anaplussetup

@tom2750  They take the DLC gun and can use it until they die, which is usually pretty quickly in most matches. New vehicles are only on the new maps, not added to old maps.

Battlepacks are things you get when you reach a new level. After you get it you open it and it'll randomly unlock a few things, be they attachments, camo, XP boosts, etc.

@jcogopogo that Would've been awesome! There was one map on Battlefield 2 I really liked. It had two great silos(?) or something with a bridge connecting them...or maybe I just remember wrong :p

@djpetitte  They play just like the BF3 maps, just with a shiny new coat of paint.

@Razor10000 remember when they got sued over stopping the DLC development? since it can mean admitting there are bugs in game, which would mean the selling of shares was insider trading?

@boricuasnake04  I'm the same. Besides the very first day I played (bought it about a month after it launched) when I kept getting kicked from matchmaking, I've had a smooth experience ever since. I'm not a hardcore FPS guy but I've always enjoyed Battlefield for some mindless destructive fun. And this one is no exception.

@_Judas_ @jcogopogo  makes me want to fire up 1942 wonder if people still play , it was something bay the map  i think

@Razor10000 Liked. I'm sure it's possible that some aren't having any problems with it but there's also a possibility of people not knowing a problem when they see it.

@boricuasnake04

Just because you and some others aren't having any problems with it, doesn't mean the next person isn't either.

thorn3000
thorn3000

@LeviHarris @boricuasnake04no many people enjoy the game and do not have problems, but let's face it, it's the forums, people who have time to rant here are people who A. either do play the game and base their opinions on the news and articles or B. have had issues and so can't play the game properly...the people whose game is actually working are playing it instead of wasting time posting 25 milion different threads on the forums...that's how it always work
