Family Guy Online dev making Warhammer 40K game

Roadhouse Interactive signs deal with Games Workshop for side-scrolling smartphone and tablet game set in fantasy world.

Family Guy Online developer Roadhouse Interactive announced a partnership with Games Workshop today that will see the studio create a side-scrolling action game for smartphones and tablets set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The untitled game will cast players as a space marine and task them with vanquishing waves of enemies.

"We are incredibly excited to bring a part of Warhammer 40,000 to life on mobile and tablet and it’s great to work with Games Workshop," Roadhouse Interactive cofounder and president Tarrnie Williams said in a statement.

Terms of the deal were not divulged.

Roadhouse Interactive worked with 20th Century Fox on Family Guy Online, an ill-fated free-to-play browser-based game. The project featured voicework from the TV show's cast and entered beta last year, but was shut down in January before releasing in full.

This is the second new Warhammer 40K game to be announced in as many weeks. Last week, Slitherine announced a turn-based strategy game set in the fantasy universe. And in addition to that, Total War developer Creative Assembly is working on multiple Warhammer 40K titles, the first of which will release "from beyond 2013."

This game comes from a small time developer and is destined to suck, big time!

I dont understand wh G dont leave to the tablet/mobile pros, like Gameloft for ex.

At any case, i crave for for more 40k, i tried a tone of crappy 40k like games, so this one i will get for sure, regardless of how much it will suck...

Same oes with the turn based they are preparing. As i still occassionally play Chaos gate and Space hulk.

But i fear the wortst for the MMP, turned RPG and Relic's DOW, i really doubt that we will see them again and even if we do, chances are that any advance we had up untill now is scrapped and we will have to wait at least 3 more years, to say the least...

So until then, those 2 crappy games are better than nothing, i guess...

"side-scrolling smartphone and tablet game set in fantasy world."

Read the article guys. This won't effect our beloved DoW strategy franchise!

I heard Games Workshop was very protective of the Warhammer 40k liscense, I guess I heard wrong.

Who really decided they wanted to tarnish their own name?

Yeah, I'll stick with the table-top....Though the DoW series is pretty damn good. Hope they come out with another one of those soon

The good news is that the Total War developers have the original Warhammer license. So at least there might actually... possibly... potentially... be an ACTUAL STRATEGY UNIT BASED warhammer game at some point in the future.

And now Games Workshop attempts to mess with their fans in whole new mediums! Christ...

On the up shot, if they are opening up the 40k licence, that means that Relic could still, conceivably, make more Dawn of War and Space Marine games.

Keep bringing on the Warhammer 40k games I say. Lets just judge when they get release, besides this one is an iPhone/android game. The only thing I disagree with is the fact that there's over 10 different armies/races, please do something with the Tau, imperial guard, orks, something just let the space machines take a vacation

And so it begins....now that THQ is gone looks like GW has decided to just open up the IP for a money grab.

How about instead of this we get a new world in conflict ? BUT NO because god forbid.

Warhammer 40K doesn't deserve this, the emperor is not pleased.

Umm, the article regarding Creative Assembly says they aren't 40k games, they are fantasy. In fact, I think this is the first 40k game mentioned in quite a while.

I thought creative assembly only got the license for warhammer, not 40k

WTF?? Family Guy / 40K.........hmmm. Who thought up of that dream marraige?

Still, I'm glad to see 40k is gaining global acceptance. Games Workshop tabletop games are excellent. I'm still not sure on their video games though.

Don't worry there are full fledged Warhammer 40k titles are already in the works by Creative Assembly and Relic Games . I can see bright future for PC Gaming BUT . . . . . . . . . . . . .  SIGH . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I miss World in Conflict :-(

@Suikogaiden Well it is. Probably just not your humor. The humor  has been stale for me for some years now but i can definitely see why others still find it funny. The online game is another thing I have no idea if it's any good never played it.

American Dad on the other hand now that's a funny show.

@IrishRuger Creative Assembly got a licence from GW to make a Warhammer Fantasy Battles game. Sega (who own CA) bought Relic, the company that had the licence to make Warhammer 40,000 games. THis has led to speculation that CA will make a Total Warhammer 40k game, but nobody has heard any news from GW about who has licences to make what since THQ folded.

feleas

@IrishRuger when THQ went belly up, they had multiple teams working on multiple warhammer games. various companies bought these games, though none bought the team working on dark millenium unfortunately, and then got contracts with gamesworkshop to develop games based on their tabletop product. in my speculation, I think gamesworkshop is seeing who will make a game as popular as THQ made dawn of war, and keep their contract with the "winning" company.

@NewShire  did you ever play it because I'm guessing you didn't. That game was god tier

@DarkSaber2k @IrishRuger Ok that is why i was confused.  Thank you for the information.  Well I am just hoping for warhmmer total war, the mod is so good already but an actual total war game based on it ..... will be great.

The3rdGracchus

@feleas If that is the case, I sincerely hope that Relic is working on more Dawn of War or Space Marine games. We both know that those and the Warhammer Fantasy RTS that Creative Assembly are going to be the most successful.

Unless this mobile shite takes off. In which case, sick the Inquisition on GW, for there is vile heresy at work within its walls.

@SauhlGood @Cloud_imperium Sierra the company that made the series was closed just like THQ and WIC series died with it . I don't know who have that IP now . I think UBISOFT have it , I think .
