Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse hitting this fall

Activision bringing Griffin family to Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year in new title inspired by universe-hopping "Road to the Multiverse" episode from show's eighth season.

by

Gamers yearning to take part in the wacky hijinks of the Family Guy series will have a new console title to play this fall. Activision and Twentieth Century Fox this morning announced Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse.

Somewhere, Peter Griffin is saying "Freakin' sweet!"

Due out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the title is inspired by the 2009 Family Guy episode "Road to the Multiverse." In this episode, Stewie and Brian use a remote control to travel to parallel universes, including destinations inspired by Walt Disney, The Flintstones, and one where Christianity never existed.

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse will be the first console game set in series creator Seth MacFarlane's cartoon universe since the 2K Games-published Family Guy in 2006. That game was developed by High Voltage Software and shipped for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PSP. It featured the original voice cast of the TV series, including MacFarlane.

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse follows Family Guy Online, which is a free-to-play PC title currently in beta. A new console Family Guy game was announced by Activision in February 2011, when Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg described the franchise as "strong," with a "passionate niche audience that can achieve repeatable and profitable success."

Any one who is happy to pay 40quid for this needs there head checking .it is kinda funny .but that is it .i feel like wacking the people who made this in the face .should have been a download game at 400 Microsoft points .there is no effort put into this game at all .you might as well throw 40 quid down the drain .i love family guy but as far as games go one of the worst ever

Never played the old XBOX game but if Seth Macfarlane gets to QC this I think it will be good the man has high standards.

If they made it remotely close to the simpson's last game it could really have potential.

I'm sorry but I don't believe this has any chance to be good. This smells like one of those "Oh let's use our license to sell a 2$ game for 20$"-games. It's time these studios understood, that they would actually earn more money with their licensed games, if they actually put in some work.

Could you imagine an MMORPG with worlds from Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad, South Park, The Cleveland Show, Futurama and other adult cartoon shows??  ... and you had to choose an alliance with one of the shows. Damn, I don't know which one I would choose

Family Guy still rocks, but this game will probably suck.  Just like a Bob's Burgers game would (just like that show does).

I hope this doesn't turn out like all those previous simpson games. They were definitions in disapointment..sadly I can't see any other result.

Prove me wrong Activision!!

I frickin' love family guy! I really hope they don't make a game that is suitable for kids though since the cartoon is adult orientated and if they didn't stick with that orientation they would lose a lot of what makes family guy so hilarious.

Hard to say if it will be good or bad...at least it's based on what is probably my single favorite episode ever.

I liked the multiverse episode but the last Family Guy game wasn't that great. I'll have to wait and see how this turns out.

American Dad is funnier because of Roger. Cleveland Show is just bloody terrible and needs to die.

As long as it has decent gameplay and is f******* hilarious then its a must buy for me.

At least they are using a wacky episode as a concept, I think this will have a mix of decent gameplay and stay true to the series, unlike most simpsons games

I wonder if they'll be able to do better than the abysmal Simpson's games, bleah

i approach this with all the trepidation due that a "tv to game" title deserves.

Please make an American Dad video game if your going to make a Family Guy one. That would be so much better. Family Guy sucks.

Family Guy stopped being funny shorter before it was cancelled. Should have never been revived.

As soon as I saw Activision was the first word, I scrolled to the bottom to this chat box to say "F*** Activision and Eric Hirshberg"

'Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg described the franchise as "strong," with a "passionate niche audience that can achieve repeatable and profitable success."'

..."achieve repeatable and profitable success"

..."repeatable"...

This is how you know a company isn't in the business so it can make good games; it's in the business to make you buy a new, slightly or not-at-all updated version of some game every year.

Not everything deserves a game adaptation...

It's bad enough the show itself is getting a bit stale....now THIS happens. Not freakin' sweet.

Next to the Surfin Bird/Jesus episode, that one was my favorite, those were two really fun weeks.  I have low hopes for this though, how I would love to be proven wrong.

i doubt the people who make the show have any thing to do with this game and the jokes and script will be recycled from the show i personaly think tv shows should stay as tv shows but all that is my opinion and no ones opinion is wrong

Because we all know how "well" the last one turned out.

I like Family Guy (some of the episodes anyway), but I'll wait to see more about this game. I'm much more interested in the new South Park game then this though.

i had the ps2 family guy game and it wasn't too bad. Most of the jokes were lame, but the game itself was okay

"Oh my god, I'm so hardcore and TRVE. Oh my god, I only love the band's first album before they were known. Oh my god, I'm so cool, I stop liking stuff just because they grow popular." Grow up.

@jarheadalex Oh that would be soooo awesome. Provided it takes inspiration from and is as good as The Simpsons Hit & Run. I just don't get why they don't make a Simpsons Hit & Run 2. The first game was really successful.

@-Shadowbinded- Since when have they done that? I think their track record speaks for itself, quality and innovation... /sarcasm
