Fallout Producer Departs

Tim Cain, producer of the acclaimed sci-fi RPG Fallout, will soon leave Interplay.

Interplay has confirmed that Tim Cain, producer of the acclaimed sci-fi RPG Fallout, is leaving the company to pursue other interests - although it's unclear if this means Cain will start his own development house or simply move to another company.

Cain's departure comes during the early development of Fallout 2, but Interplay stresses that progress on the product will not be impaired. "We have 15 people working on Fallout 2 right now," said Kurt Green, public relations representative for Interplay. "When one person on the team leaves, we replace them." Fallout 2 is tentatively scheduled to be released this fall.

Green declined to comment on rumors circulating that other members of the Fallout team are leaving with Cain and stated that the parting was amicable. Green said allegations that Interplay president, Brian Fargo, is planning litigation over the departure (or departures) were "unfounded."

When contacted, Cain declined to comment on the situation.
