Falling Skies games in the works

Barbie publisher reveals partnership with TNT to launch mobile game based on TV show this holiday and console title in late 2014.

Multiple games based on TNT's sci-fi show Falling Skies are in the works.

Barbie: Dreamhouse Party and Young Justice: Legacy publisher Little Orbit today announced a partnership with TNT to bring the series to iOS this holiday and "multiple consoles" in late 2014.

According to the game's announcement, Falling Skies will "tie directly into the television series" and feature voice work by the show's actors.

Created by DreamWorks Television, in association with TNT Productions and produced by Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies takes place in the aftermath of an alien attack.

The show is written by Robert Rodat, who is best known for his work on Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot. Falling Skies recently completed its third season and averaged 5.4 million viewers.

Stopped watching it after season 2. Seamed like a TWD rip-off to me.

it's bad enough that there is a game made after that syfy show defiance, now they have to create a game after fallen skys. is really going to happen, (REALLY.)

Does anyone else feel like the last season was absolutely pointless? Not to mention the major jump in time since season 2, it ended up making the viewer feel disconnected from the plot. Even the writing and dialogue seems really cheesy this time around. The characters don't react how you would expect them, they feel almost fake considering their situations and predicaments. This show has gone down hill fast in my opinion.

Came into this story hoping for news on a good Falling Skies game

Then I see "Barbie publisher to launch mobile game" and realise there's nothing worthwhile coming.

It must be hard for a studio to be taken seriously after having made Barbie games.

For some reason the show photo reminds me of The Tripod Trilogy, a great old sci-fi series mostly aimed at kids. It had a UK TV adaptation (which I did not watch) but could work as a non-shooter game, which this one is unlikely to be (they'll probably make a competent game nonetheless).

If done right, a game set in the Falling Skies universe. I'll take a good sci-fi post-apocalyptic setting any day of the week. However, knowing this will most likely just be a low-budget cash-in, I doubt it will be done right.

so.... the show will end and they want it to go out with a cash cow bang... NO THANK YOU !

why do people think popular shows or movies will make a good game

I like this show but the games will more than likely suck.

I loved this show, only got to watch two seasons before I told Dish and Cox to piss off.

Tv series and movies just don't go hand in hand with games, the only thing it does is show the greed of a company, or it will tear the franchise down.
I am pissed enough already about the Firefly game and Halo Spartan ASSault on phones.

Companies gotta make money, but atleast do it properly.

@rockgod44 there is not a game made after Defiance TV show they where made at the same time and deigned to work togeather.. sadly the game is a bit average.. not bad just nothing special. Love defiance TV show tho.

As for falling skies I recently started to watch it and I am enjoying it as well.. I cant see anyone making a good game out it unless they totally ignore the TV series and make some kind of open world fallout type game..

@Pikdum I'm with you on this.  I only watched the entire season, solely because I had invested myself in over half of it by the time I gave up on it.  To me at least, this season was awful.  Glad I'm not the only one who found the absence of 8 months time to be dumb, and the dialogue and scripting was pretty bad too.  May as well rename this show to "The Masons" as every member of the family appears to be a superhero.  The Masons will save earth!   Think I'll be shelfing this show next season.

@Keaze_ Lets be honest, they'll never be taken seriously we'll just point at them and laugh forever.

@Chronologo X-Men Origins: Wolverine was not a very good movie but the game was pretty decent.  I am Wolverine fan so I might be partial, but I didn't like the movie.

@Warful The "Community" fan-made game was pretty good. Also, the "Mad Men" avatar generator, despite being a marketing tool. And then, there's the upcoming "South Park" game - apparently the first that is worth the money ...

@derceto@Pikdum I agree about the disconnection especially after we were teased with the arrival of new aliens (who we now know are the volhm) which we never got to see developed. But did you see how much older Ben and Matt looked? How else do you explain that without a huge time difference? I agree that this season was off putting and just didn't capture me like one and two. If you were going to make Tom the president then he should've stayed that and not go oh but the REAL president is still alive and then promptly kill him off. Since they did go that route I thought the REAL president was working with the skitters as a storyline should've been explored.

Secondly I thought the 'oh, my baby might be an alien' possible plotline was abandoned in season 2 then they bring it back and make it worse with a talking baby. Which is so lame. Also in a world where you have to hide from mechs and skitters; where exactly was Ann running off to with the baby? Tom's daughter seems very... 4400. They handled that whole situation and storyline poorly as well as the mole/skitter spy one.

The best thing they did was not fall for Karen's surrender nor the attempted planted seed of 'the Volhm are now our new enemy'. Also it looks like they're splitting up maggy and Hal for a lordes and Hal which I'm all for.

@SubZezo @Chronologo Yeah, Batman returns on the Snes was a pretty good beat em up. And Batman Begins on the PS2 was a good game too.

@sethfrost @Warful I agree the South Park one looks fun, but I am convinced that no TV-series based game will ever receive high scores. I will give you credit for the Community fan made game, but it wasnt a major game.

Btw The Walking Dead, to anyone using that argument, it's based on a comic, and the game doesnt have anything to do with the series.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@Warful @sethfrost But The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct was based on the TV series and that one went reeeaaaally well, you know :P.

Doing games from other cultural mediums is tough, because the strengths of one medium might not carry over to the other and then what are you gonna do?

There's talk about a console title, so I hope it's for PC as well along the line, unless the game sucks.
