Fable Anniversary getting fan-made achievement

Lionhead Studios inviting players to submit their own achievement for upcoming RPG remake; game will retail for $40.

This fall's high-definition remake of the original Fable will include one achievement made by the community, developer Lionhead Studios has announced. The studio has launched a new contest that invites players to submit their own achievement for the upcoming game.

The contest began Monday and runs through July 14. Those interested in participating can submit their achievement for Fable Anniversary on the Lionhead Studios forums.

At the close of the entry period, a panel of judges from Lionhead Studios will review all eligible entries and determine five finalists. Entries will be judged equally on creativity, appropriateness to game theme, and originality.

Lionhead Studios will then put the five achievements up to a public vote for final determination on or around July 15.

The winning achievement will appear in the game and the person who created it will have their name added to the credits and take home a copy of the game and a t-shirt.

To be eligible, all achievement names must be no more than 32 characters, while their description cannot exceed 100 characters. Submitting a suggested logo for the achievement is optional.

Lionhead Studios also revealed today that Fable Anniversary will retail for $40, the same price as 2011's Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

I got the original when it was bundled with the original Xbox, then a few years later i got the lost chapters, but i feel the game still lacked content and i hoped the sequel would give this. although the 2nd game wasn't to bad, the third game was a disaster.

I've already beaten this game multiple times, don't think i'd get the remake.

Linonhead: "All right team, we've been putting this off for a while now, but we need to wrap on the achievements before the game can ship. Ideas?"

Exec 1: "Why not have our fans do the work for us?"

Exec 2: "Fable 1 was the best Fable. Everything else went to shit after that."

Lionhead boss: "I agree with both of you. Someone, put an ad on Craiglist asking people to come up with creative press releases. We'll pick the best one of the bunch and shotgun it out in an email blast to the major gaming news sites.

"Oh, and speaking of 'rails,' someone give me a rolled up dollar bill."

I still own the original Fable. Couldn't stand it and never beat it. Wouldn't buy a 40$ remake of the original.

This is the first time in a long time where I am jealous of not having an Xbox 360 anymore. I really loved the original Fable.

Still love my PS3, though.

Screw that. What about a Fable: Peter Moleneux finally delivers on his vision edition.

I know he's not at lionhead anymore, but I was disappointed that even after 3 Fable games they didn't even try to match the vision given for project Ego.

Achievement: Nap Time

Requirement: Sit through 1000 loading screens. . . . In HD

The frequent and long loading screens between sections in this game a absolutely ridiculous!!!!

No PC! and 40 dollars, but probably worth it, because the games great:)

somehow, I think fan-made achievements are gonna be harder and sillier to complete compared to dev-made ones lol. Hopefully there won't be stupid ones...

I'd pick it up if it were maybe $20.  Not paying $40 for a decade-old game.  Will the old Xbox version work on the 360?  If so, i'll just grab that if i really get the urge to play this.... but it's not like the next 2 (i don't consider that one where you ride a horse and can't explore to be an actual "game") were the greatest things ever made......

At the end of the new Fable you fight a boss that is a giant cube which you chip away at for $0.99 a whack and once you have destroyed the cube and the reward inside the cube is a dead cat named Curiosity.

@CaptWaffle The old Xbox version does work on 360. It has some glitches here and there but it's still a great game. You can get it cheap off ebay and it'll probably be just as good as the remake

@bmart970 You really, really, should! It's great, and by far the best of the Fables they made.

@deth420 Isnt that you fault?
You could have tried them before you bought them.

Tribesmaster

@Neal913 @Tribesmaster If you really feel differently about it, I feel very bad for you. These game's are absolutely terrible. I guess there will always be people out there who enjoy bad, simple games though.

I just hope you don't actually like the third fable. If you do, then I personally think you are batshit crazy.

Tribesmaster
Tribesmaster

@sladakrobot @Tribesmaster Yes, and it was the only acceptable game of the series. It's definitely not a game I would play now days, but it was OK when it was released years ago. The whole series(especially the sequels) are just a huge disappointment.

willzihang

@Neal913 @willzihang Wow-- you pathetically attempt cleverness by defending your mind-blowing point, which was "ignorance". I wonder if you even know what it means....  tell me how it's ignorant to want a PC version?

Tribesmaster
Tribesmaster

@Neal913@TribesmasterI thought you weren't going to feed me my troll meal? I just realized everything is starting to make sense now. You must be Peter Molyneux. You know, making promises you can't keep?

Tribesmaster
Tribesmaster

@Neal913 @Tribesmaster Normally I would agree with everything you said, if this wasn't fable we are talking about. You can enjoy whatever games you want, doesn't change the fact you enjoy and support terrible games. When it comes to fable, especially the third, my opinion is actually closer to law than you think.

Neal913
Neal913

@Tribesmaster @Neal913 as I have previously stated that is your opinion sir. With all  due respect your opinion is not law, and until you understand that fact you will never realize how ignorant you are. I loved Fable 1 and 2. I like Fable 3, though it does have it's problems with story and timeline. The controls are broken but all games have some broken features about them. I am not telling you this is the greatest game, just that I like this game.
