Extreme gaming hits UK tellys

European-based cable network to show live, competitive gaming beginning with a virtual World Cup and PGR3 racing.

The Extreme Sports Channel today announced that a series of shows featuring professional gaming will begin airing on July 1. The first show, Pro Videogaming: Xbox Cup, will see competitors playing soccer games for a virtual World Cup. The four-and-a-half-hour show will be shown live from the Adidas World of Football in Berlin. The second show will feature a Project Gotham Racing 3 tournament from the Ripspeed Donny car show in Essex on August 13. Currently, the UK-based Extreme Sports Channel can be seen in Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East.
