Activision and id Software have announced to GameSpot that they will release a multiplayer compatibility test for their upcoming World War II-era horror action game, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, this Friday. The test will include a single multiplayer map that will be featured in the first-person shooter, and it will be available for download at the official Return to Castle Wolfenstein Web site and here at GameSpot.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is set in a German castle during World War II. Players will assume the role of an Allied prisoner who finds himself freed unexpectedly when a Nazi experiment causes hordes of undead soldiers to riot. The game is in joint development at Gray Matter, Nerve, and id Software, and it is scheduled for release in November. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
