Evolve's Xbox One-Only Beta Coming in January

Xbox One will also recieve "premium downloadable content" first.

Evolve's beta starts January 15, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One, Microsoft confirmed today at Gamescom. Microsoft reaffirmed downloadable content will be released first on Xbox One. No beta registration process has been announced.

Last week, Evolve was delayed until February, after being originally scheduled for release this October. A PC-only alpha test recently took place, and the Evolve Twitter account confirmed there will be more opportunities to join future alpha programs.

Sucks that the beta will only hit one console, it's not like ps, xbox, or PC gamers all think alike. If company's really wanted to make the best possible game, beta testing would be done on all platforms the game is to hit. With that said, glad I have an xbone, I'll let you guys know how it is lol

I don't understand why companies see making a demo exclusive is a good idea. They would sell more copies opening up a beta across all platforms.

Bummer, this oddly gets me less excited about the game. I wonder if companies realize this- the money they get for putting their content exclusive to one platform, sorta sours the others. Wonder if it's worth it. Especially in this case where they are souring the larger audience.

I don't know about this one, game play videos didn't impress me as much.

I haven't jumped on the bandwagon for this game yet, but I'm definitely interested in trying it. I enjoyed the L4D games.

Hopefully we'll have Killing Floor 2 by then, at least in Early Access form.

OMFG quit calling them "betas" already, it is a glorified DEMO...

I played the PC alpha a couple weeks ago, good game, although I would never play it on X1, it's too nice looking to play at 720p and 30 FPS, or lower.

@daikkenaurora12 DUMBASS DID IT EVER SAY THE GAME WAS FOR LAST-GEN?

@FLEEBS Take my spot. I'm jumping off the bandwagon. TUCK N ROLL! Heck, for such brazen and open content segregation as Turtle Rock is showing here, I may find myself waiting months and only dropping a Jackson if/when the time comes. I figure if the developer is so open about segregating platform and content, then they don't mind if I prioritize my money in the same way.

@label07 Games rarely change from what a demo offers you, the purpose of beta's is to see what might need to be changed before the game releases.

@label07 Same deal with all this talk over 1080p on the consoles like it's anything all that amazing in the grand scheme of things. It's been around for so long, that when you see XB1 or PS4 touting it as some kind of feature, I can't help but laugh. What are they going to be proud of next? 4xAA?

FLEEBS
FLEEBS

@label07 Nope. Devs run all kinds of different tests during a beta to make sure everything works. They also make various tweaks to gameplay based on the info they gleam from the beta. That doesn't happen for just a demo.

@mkeezay22  that same "joke"? I hope you have this as copy and paste. Please tell me that you're not actually typing it out.

@aegis_kleais @FLEEBS  I think FLEEBS was saying that he/she hasn't jumped on the general bandwagon for this game (as it is super-overhyped).  Who would buy it on a platform other than what they wanted just for this crap?

@aegis_kleais @FLEEBS These days that's pretty much standard practice so I hope your ready to avoid just about every game coming out next year. My real concern is the amount of content that will be in this game i mean i liked L4d 1 and 2 don't get me wrong but I can't see myself paying 60 for that type of exp again they have to bring more to the table imo.

unreal849
unreal849

@FLEEBS @label07  It varies.. for example, take the Destiny beta. Bungie confirmed that only the exp gain and loot drops will change in the final game, otherwise it's 100% carry-over.

What I DO think will be a proper beta is the Halo 5 beta that will happen a full year before release.

@cvantu @mkeezay22  Hes just being sincere. The game doesn't offer up a lot of content, especially the Alpha he participated in. So the visuals are easily one of its strong points along with great gameplay. But being so limited on what you can do and all why would you opt for the inferior version.

@Gen007 @aegis_kleais @FLEEBS  From what I have been able to gather your getting less than their previous titles. People hate that games have DLC announced before the game launches , well this game is the worst offender and unless the campaign is of a large magnitude and possibly more large monsters introduced other than just 3 it will grow tired very quick like Titanfall.

I am excited for this game and if I ever get it it will be on PC but only if the campaign is something glorious as I cannot see myself doing just 4 vs 1 only. Sure their are environmental hazards and smaller monsters but I fear this game will be lacking content and relying solely on DLC Milkage.

@unreal849 @FLEEBS @label07 No, they didn't said that mate. They said:

Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.

FallenOneX
FallenOneX

@xeidog69 Depends on the DLC. I'll give them a little leeway when it comes to levels or entire areas, but DLC costumes on day 1 is ridiculous.
