Need further proof that the Wii craze is permeating virtually every nook and cranny of the Western culture? Then head on over to the ubiquitous social invitation service Evite, which has launched a Web page exclusively for those planning Wii parties or Wii-themed family reunions.

Besides such basic features as budget planning (1 Wii - $249) and party supplies (Wiitis-fighting ice packs - $5 each), the Evite page includes a bevy of Wii party ideas. The site offers some common-sense tips, such as wearing althetics-friendly clothing and clearing out any potential obstacles Wii Sports players could trip over. It also offers some more questionable advice, suggesting Welsh Rabbit as an ideal après-Wii snack and a whiskey sweet and sour as the perfect "Wii-ed up" party cocktail.

If I sent that out to my friends they wouldn't talk to me anymore. But, the wii is usually on at most of my parties. The best part about it is that any one can play, even drunk people.

Fun idea, the site has it's pros and cons and it's cool to see a recommendation for a video game party. Could be better if recommended foods had more variety than grilled cheese, stuffed mushrooms, and whisky.

I've never had a paty just for playing the wii, but I've been to a few where a wii happened to be sitting around. Its great for parties as far as I'm concerned, it gets everyone to play and have a good time with the right games

I play at a LAN party... But a Wii party, this is kinda lame. I love Wii... But have a party based around it??? I think I'll stick to beer and load music.

rocoto, youre a bitter old lady, aren't you? it makes me sad to read what you said. i hope wii parties take off and become really popular all over the place and the friends you don't have send invitations to you by mistake...

People are feeling guilty about being part of this and I don't blame them, it is petty and fruity. So much they are censoring those who bash them strongly, defending themselves. "What do you do at a BBQ?" What kind of question is that? A videogame party is nothing at all like a real party with human interaction and eye contact, and that's coming from an asocial bastard like myself. These invites just promote more awkwardness amongst us, there'll just be more creepy people walking around, we are just made more awkward and feel that we are entitled to something, when sadly, we are not remotely entitled to anything at all if we believe these "parties" to be legitimate, righteous or cool, whatever you want to call them.

mhder said: "Online online online" Believe it or not "mhder", but some people still like to play multi-player games face to face!

If we could add our Mii's next to our invites that would be great.

Wow, a lot of people just don't care and others really don't like this... kinda funny. I thought it was kinda cool, but that's just me.

...Anyone else find this stupid? Just go out, buy the Wii's yourself and do a little extra work to make the party a success, without some snooty group making the decisions. Hell, me and my two freinds have parties for gaming all the time, I'm sure as hell we could host a better party that what these people are claiming to do. *actually goes to check the site* Oh, I get it now, it's just guidelines... Wait, I still hold up to my point. Don't let some lameass site make suggestions, ask a GAMER what the proper partying stuff is.

I am glad to see the Wii catching on with the mainstream:)

I've been to a Wii party. It was actually pretty fun. It was an older crowd, people in their 30's and 40's, and most people there hadn't touched a console since the NES or Atari 2600. Basically it was wine and Wii Sports. The hostess (how she got a Wii I never quite figured out) was a 33 year old woman who never purchased her own console before the Wii. That being said I don't think I quite buy into this Wiivite thing, but I've been wrong about a lot of Wii stuff so far.

Just because you consider gamers to be sweaty fat men (which logically must include yourself as you are posting on a gaming site) doesn't make playing video games with other people LESS fun.

strategyking92 i agree, who has a video game themed party anyway? A lot of people It's a get-together like any other party. What do you do at a BBQ? You eat. What do you do at a dance party? You dance or sit down if you're embarrassed. What do you do when you're at a gaming party? You play games. You like games don't you? You invite friends to play any of your games? What's the difference in inviting people to play games with you? It's community development that brings people of the same interests to you. More people with the same enjoyment = One good time. Ever been to a party and just wanted to go home because you're bored?
