989 Studios has announced that EverQuest players will have more land to explore in March of 2000 when the EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark add-on releases. The new expansion will offer an enhanced 3D engine, 20 new adventure zones, more characters, an entirely new continent, and a new race.

EverQuest players (more than 150,000) will be able to purchase the title online or at retail when it becomes available. The new continent of Kunark, located to the south of Faydwer, offers beginner and advanced zones in deserts, lakes, crypts, caves, dungeons, towers, and underground castles.

"EverQuest has a wildly devoted fan base who are constantly craving new challenges and experiences in the massive world of EverQuest," said Jeffrey Fox, vice president of marketing for 989 Studios. "EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark continues the legacy of EverQuest and takes it many steps further with a more detailed world that offers 40 percent more gameplay and breathtaking graphics."

989 Studios has yet to determine what the cost of the expansion will be but maintains that users will still be able to play for US$9.95 a month
